Has anyone tried this new mod chip? On the website it says it will play back ups of dvd-r's does that mean i'm s.o.l. for my dvd+r burner?

1. Its not a mod-chip
2. Its not new
3. Only a few versions on the ps2 read dvd+r. So it will play dvd-r if you ps2 will read them
4. Ive had this for some time now and it works great.
5. you can find a site that sells it for atleast $10 US cheaper. ConsoleSource (http://www.consolesource.com) comes to mind.

i know its not a mod chip.. i just didnt know what to call it


ps where can i find a list of ps2s that do, if u know.

Ive read people getting them to work on v.9 and 10 ps2's. What model do you have? V9 is SPCH-50001. V10 is 50004.

The only way to be sure if your can is to try it. Just buy like a 5-pack of them.

it's old school, i had the original, but then it had problems playin dvds so i got another one that december, i already tried puttin in a stargate dvd that i just made and no beans... o well

How do you know what version of playstation you have? My serial number starts with Au?

Look at the back where the expansion bay is.

Ther version 1, 2 and 3 PlayStation 2 all have 10 screws on the bottom of the unit.

SCPH30001 v1 = Serial# begins U1
SCPH30001 v2 = Serial# begins U0
SCPH30001 v3 = Serial# begins U1 Date 1A
SCPH30001 v3 = Serial# begins U2 Date 0D

The version 4, 5, 6 and 7 PlayStation 2 all have 8 screws on the bottom of the unit. The 4 and 5 also have the electrical warning stamped on the bottom of the PlayStation 2 case.

SCPH 30001 v4 = Serial# begins with U0
SCPH 30001 v4 = Serial# begins with U1
SCPH 30001 v4 = Serial# begins with U2
SCPH 30001 v4 = Serial# begins with U3
SCPH 30001 v4 = Serial# begins with U4
SCPH 30001 v4 = Serial# begins with U5
SCPH 35001 v4 = GT3 Edition

There are 3 different motherboards for the SCPH30001R - Version 4, 5 and 6 SCPH30001R v5 or v6 Motherboard SCPH39001 v7

SCPH50001 v9
