i'm gonna get a mp3 player with decent storage.
considerations:
ipod (15gig or 20 gig $300ish)
Creative NOmad zen xtra ($215 30gb or $239 40gb)
Iriver 20gb ($300ish) or 40gb (380ish)

which of these should i get? i'm lookin at the creative, it's really cheap, removable battery, and it's got superb sound quality. only drawback is the size is bigger.

any recommendations? any that u might suggest? i'm not planning to spend too much .$200-250-maybe300.

anyone here have any of these. any experience? good bad?
thanks!

I recently bought a personal cd player that played mp3. Can get about 100 songs on one disk, I am very happy with it. Best of all, it was very cheap, about 30 dollars.

I had a mp3 player, a real one like what you are looking at made by rca. Terrible thing, most of the song I'd downloaded wouldn't work with it. They had to be ran through a program called music jukebox before they would work on the player, and it had some kind of copywrite protection thing going on.

It's really buyer beware. Make sure you know what you're buying. The cd player has played everything I've got by the way.

My 10 gig, Classic doesnt skip.

Although my dad was pushing the buttons too hard and the buttons on the right fell in. And then my bro stripped the screws when he was trying to open it :(

well im not sure on this............... but normal HDD arent made to move around...... but these HD's are prolly adjusted for this......... and a HD can read fast enough for you to not notice the skipping........

the classic brand isn't the best in terms of quality and durability. how durable is the nomad?

bout the nomad, does anyone have a pic of wat the travel pouch thing looks like? cuz anandtech reviewed it, and the case looks like this:
http://images.anandtech.com/reviews/audio/Creative/nomad_jb_zenxtra40/tn_zenxtra40_holster.jpg

but in cnet reviews, many users said the case covers up the screen and they don't like it. wtf? is there a hole there for the lcd screen or not?

The one I have reads the song form the disk and loads it into memory, the disk just spins for a split second while it is loading the song. At first it was a bit strange, it's playing music and I could see the disk stopped in the drive. And it does this one song at a time, while it is still playing.
