first off, you guys must have pretty shitty systems, no offense....

Winamp 3 runs fine on every system I&#39;ve seen, unless u have a 1 Ghz or below....
also depends alot on the RAM.....

personally, I have both installed on mine, and I use both.......
I know its weird, but that way I can use either one....

Winamp 2.81 may be fast, but the graphics are HORRIBLE and ANNOYING&#33;&#33;&#33;
Winamp 3 may be a bit slow, but the graphics more than make up for it....

Winamp 2. is better cuz u kan be ur own dj on shoutcast... but winamp3 is just the same thing but no shoutcast and takes 10x longer to load... so id go with 2.8 or watever 2.x version is out..

Winamp3 Is Good in My opinion But Winamp 2 is So much simpler And i Really cant be bothered with all the faffing about and winamp 2 has the jump shortcut unlike 3 which has a search bar which is just so sh*te :P

Let&#39;s see... what&#39;s new in Winamp 3:

Positive:
1) Different better skin system
2) Ability to play video as well as audio
3) Supposedly better graphics
4) It&#39;s newer (for anyone who likes all new stuff)

Negative:
1) RAM Hog. Period. I have 512MB DDR RAM with a 1700+ Athlon and Winamp 3 does not lag, but other programs lag because of it.
2) Too many bugs and random crashes. I still haven&#39;t found out the cause to any of the numerous crashes till i uninstalled the program.
3) The new skinning system is trash just like Media Player&#39;s skinning system. And to think it takes my system resources...
4) The video playback is sh&#33;t compared to video-only players like BSPlayer.
5) There aren&#39;t as many skins for Winamp 3 as there are for Winamp 2, especially good ones.

Winamp 2:
Positive:
1) It has been developed to v2.82 (about 20 updates), so it&#39;s pretty much bug-free
2) Compact, easy to use, takes next to no system resources

Negative:
1) Hard to manage playlists, but it&#39;s the same in Winamp 3


Therefore, Winamp 2 all the way&#33;&#33;&#33;

It should have the pros from version 3 without the new design, and all the bugs.

Well i would also have to agree winamp 2.81 is better then number 3.
easier to handle not as slow at start up.
But 3 will get better when they fix up some of the bugs and when it supports more Op systems

Personally, i like really fast and simple players, Audio Active is da playa i&#39;ve been using about 2 years now, really good and extremely fast plus you get those "radio-active" icons on the mp3 files, get one from http://www.audioactive.com/download/default.htm
or PM me and we do some bisnes :) its a small zip, about 1,4Mb to dl.

And about WinAmp 2 or 3 ? I got them both installed and they are both slow responding players, and i got really slow puter here. I dont want to watch visuals on them, or in WMP, it takes way too much recourses plus im too into the music. First thing i usually do in any player is to disable them visual effects, they are not that stunning, and if they are, it only works once, maybe twice.

When i play mp3&#39;s, the palyer is 99% "behind" the windows or im not looking at monitor at all (passed out in the couch). I really dont need the visuals. For me this whole debate is interesting cuz i see things in totally different view. NOT necessarily the right way, of course.

Hope you find the right answer on this burning matter. :lol:

Winamp 3 is pretty cool in theory I was fanatic about it in beta stages but I really like Winamp 2 better. I like Windows Media Player 9 for simplicity and excellent playlists capabillities.

i got winamp 2 on my other comp, slow as hell wi winamp 3. k6-2 500. 256mb, tee-he.
and i got alot of probs playin vids wi it aswell, and liked it scrolling the song in the title bar,

Winamp 2, Winamp 3 is to damn slow the only thing i like from it is you can size the amp better.. and the CD Ripper codec that you download serprate with is koo... I would go for winamp 2 :D

Winamp 2 without a doubt, tried 3..it was crapola with a capital C.

Although if you like eye candy and a slow system, then by all means run 3.

My system was an XP2000, 896 meg DDR 2100...and winamp 3 made it like a celeron 300mhz 64 meg edo ram.... in short it sucks&#33;

Stick with 2. ;)
