How do I disable the setting that allows XP to automaticly scan and use MyPictures for the desktop wallpapers? I have thousands of pictures and the damn desktop wallpaper thing only holds so many. Now I cant even change my wallpaper to a custom one because of this! I want the list empty! I dont want it to automaticly use the images for wallpapers!

Put your pics in another folder instead of 'my pictures'

already tried that.. still had them and allowed me to use the same images.. do I need to delete some kind of cache somewhere also?

Try the Microsoft virtul desktop manager. You can select a different wallpaper image for each desktop and it will stay on that wallpaper setting.

if you have a seperate drive eg c and d drive how about saving them in d:\...

i do that since i have a partinoned hdd and none of the images, wallpapers appear in the list when selecting wallpaper.

I didn't know that XP automatically scanned My Pictures for wallpaper images to begin with.
Mine certainly doesn't.

Damn, I read that as screensaver instead of wallpaper, nevermind.

*editI
but here's a tip from neowin

In the registry [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion] the value name is WallpaperDir.
Just change the value to what ever folder you want.
