I am looking for some thing to cool this

If that is what you are buying, it comes with all the basic cooling that you need.

Unless you are planing on overclocking, then I would have futher recomendations.

yes, but i am trying to figure out what you are wanting to do with it.
for just minor overclocking you could even just stay with the stock heatsink and fan, just make sure you have your temp settings on the mother board set to a resonable rate so that you don't fry the chip and ruin the mobo.

The next step would be just a better air cooled system. And if you want to go a step up from that and try to overclock your cpu to about 2.5 on up, i'd recomend water cooling.

Up to 2.2 -2.3 I don't see any problems.
Just set the temp. sensor on the motherboard to shut down the system if it starts running too hot. You could fry the thing. If your motherboard doesn't have a temp. sensor I wouldn't try overclocking at all. It's really a must, check you bios if your not sure.

Get the 2500 not the 3000 and save yourself $65. You can OC it just as easily, but you may have to raise vcore to get it stable, and that will make it run a little hotter but it shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Buy this

Mobile 2500XP (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=19-103-401&depa=0)

This is the same CPU as the 2500XP, except it is UNLOCKED which makes overclocking a lot easier and you can go a lot higher. With the money you save you can get a Thermalright SP-97 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=35-109-113&depa=0) and overclock to around 2.5Ghz.

Or you can just use the stock Heatsink and get it up to 2.2Ghz, saving you about $60 on the heatsink.

If you want the stock heatsink and fan and just go to 2.2 get the non mobile.

If you want to get an sp-97 and overclock to around 2.4 or 2.5 then get the mobile.

Right now my friend and I are buying an Asus A7N8X-E, Mobile 2500XP, and a
SP-97

I wouldn't get the mobile. By default it will be slower, but cooler, than the regular 2500+.

When OCing you will need to raise teh vcore a lot to get it stable again, making it run just as hot as the regular 2500+. Then when you get to a high oc, it will still only run as fast as your regular 2500+ would have anyway so really there is no point. ;)

but do whatever u want really it doesn't make any difference. ;)

Not necessarily true.
If the multipliers are unlocked in the mobile, your options are far greater.
For instance, say you want to hit 2.2GHz.
With a locked 2500, who's multiplier is 12.5, you have to use 12.5x176FSB.
With the unlocked mobile you can use 210x10 and enjoy the benefits of the wider bandwidth without the stress of a huge overclock.

You also don't have to raise the vCore to achieve stability.
I run 220x10 on my 2600 T-bred ( default is 166x12.5) and it's undervolted from 1.65v to 1.55v.
I can run Prime or Folding without errors, so I'm happy with the stability and the temps don't go crazy.

well, i guess the multiplier being lowered then fsb highered is a good idea, i never thought of that.

but, aren&#39;t the mobiles already undervolted? i heard that even the slightest overclock and it will start BSODing on you. ;)

I don&#39;t know Ross, I&#39;ve never played with a mobile chip, but it&#39;s possible that it would run stable at a lower voltage than the default of a regular 2500.

The 2500XP&#39;s multiplier is 11. I will get a mobile and run it at like 210X something to get the higher memory bandwidth as clocker said.
