Why isn't there a section for those of us who use newsgroups. Newsgroups give max download speeds so should be promoted more for sharing new movies.

People have talked about it before on other sections but nothing has come of it. There should be a dedicated sub section here so we can make requests and notify others of new movie uploads.

Newsgroups are by far the best medium for sharing new movies because you get full speed, no need to wait for days downloading from BT or any other p2p client.

thats what i always thought, but they are really easy, if you have access

in fact, its prob the best way to dl - i use little else now my ISP has upgraded its servers

im not sure how successful a dedicated section would be though - unless someone could post all the nzb files for certain a.b. each day?

i personally use http://www.dvdrs.net/modules.php?name=Foru...e=viewforum&f=3 (http://www.dvdrs.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=3) for a.b.dvdrs - theres an nzb section there for that group

it would be cool if newsgroups had their own section. it would be cool for telling other people where to find stuff they're looking for. i know you can use multiple search engines to find out whats on there, but they miss some cool stuff. in here we could alert others of new stuff released, cuz it usually is released on newsgroups first right? The great thing if we had a dedicated section would be people could make requests for movies and download them at full speed.

It would be much quicker to get files and notify people if there are incomplete parts, i've been waiting weeks to get hold of a couple of parts of spiderman 2, if someone from here had it they could put it up immediately and in the groups i have access to.

ISP's don't allow access to all groups, so we could put new movies in the ones availabe to everyone.

EDIT: I use an older (crackable) version of newsbin pro to download from newsgroups, its supposed to be the best.

Reality is way ahead of you, there used to be a newsgroup section i think, but it was basically empty

I think the reason for this is newsgroups are considered old technology, they precede the web.

But newsgroups are still the best for sharing a small number of files because the files are put on servers rather than other peoples computers, thats why you get full speed from newsgroups.

If newsgroups were promoted more here then they would get more users, and we wouldnt have to wait days to download the latest movies.

If anyone has parts 30 and 33 of G.P.C SM2 CD1 (spiderman 2) put them up on alt.binaries.movies.divx :D

:D I was thinking the same thing last night...about newsgroups getting it's own section.
Would be really great!

Already have some ideas for pinned topics.
-Pinned for a list of free (or cheap) alternative newsservers (with pro's and con's),since lot of ISPs don't carry all the newsgroups.
(using easynews.com myself,+/- 10$ for 10gig,3 weeks retention,has ALL the newsgroups).

-Pinned for good newsreaders,en- and decoders,...

-Pinned with the best newsgroups for: movies,music,software,games,...

Think it really deserves it's own section on this board B)

And maybe FST could create it's own newsreader,or make a FST version of Mozilla Thunderbird (http://texturizer.net/thunderbird/) with a yEnc decoder built in :01: :P

@ {I}{K}{E} Thanks for the nifty tool you linked there.
Gonna install it straight away.

one other thing: i'm looking for a en-/decoder for MIME,BASE64,UU,...
I ran into one a couple of days ago but can't find it anymore :(
Suggestions are welcome.

Most of what you'll need is there and you can also get what you need in my sig as well. As for NewsGroups having its own section, well first off there never has been a dedicated section that I can remember and I dont think it would be a bad idea but I tend to wonder if it might end up a ghost town as some of the other sections did. I guess the powers that be can decide on this if they choose to...

I think there are a few of us here who would make a regular contribution to the section if was created. An alternative is to post a topic on this section and keep it updated regularly with posts.

I want your opinions on the latter, and maybe if it gets a lot of posts we could then create a separate section. This is probably the best way to test the interest in newsgroups.

I think a poll about it isn't a bad idea to start with :)

Mods!!!....make it so! :D

Don't think a newsgroup section will get alot of replies.
If you have questions about newsgroups the best thing you can do is reading a guide. there are many good tutorials on the net.

Yah,but you that goes for software,hardware,...too :P
You can find all your answers on the net.

How about a section for fresh releases?
Using FTD3 only goes for people who speak dutch, and those who can could get the info of FTD3 and post it here

Just a thought :)

I use THIS PAGE (http://nfo.ftd.nu/) to look up FTD numbers. Works for me.

I've been using newsgroups for many years now and believe it to be far and away the best source for 0-day and new 'stuff'. Only recently while my ISP's news service offered nothing but incompletes (during an upgrade that lasted about 4 months) have I tried IRC, which is OK after you've found your preferred release and got to the head of a queue.
My ISP's service has improved to the point of flawless recently and I'm very tempted to go back to it... after I've got just a few more things I see on IRC ;)
MInd you, it'd be nice to get these things @ 95KB/sec rather than the 40- to 50KB/sec I'm seeing now.
