View Full Version : Money Buys Happiness, But Not Sex

Great sex at least once a week is worth $50,000 in happiness

Two economists--David G. Blanchflower of Dartmouth College and Andrew J. Oswald of the University of Warwick in England--have done the first rigorous econometric analysis of money, happiness, and sex, and their findings have turned conventional wisdom upside-down

One of the things they wanted to measure is this: How much happiness is sex worth? The answer: $50,000. That is, having sex at least once a week provides as much happiness as putting $50,000 in the bank.

There was one surprise finding: A larger income does not buy more sex or sexual partners. "That was surprising to us as economists," Oswald told New York Times reporter Eric Dash, "because by and large, we think money can buy anything."

Other interesting findings:

* Married people have 30 percent more sex than their single friends and are significantly happier.
* The happiness of being in a gay or lesbian relationship is virtually identical to being in a heterosexual relationship.

I have sex more than once a week on average, and I know I'd be much happier than I am now if I had 50 g's :D

Sex is probably the greatest disappointment I have ever experienced, given the hype.

An orgasm is an orgasm, whether it is via sex or masturbation.

I think what is valuble is having someone to turn to in a time of crisis who can provide comfort, someone who can make you laugh, someone whose mind surprises you, someone who keeps showing you doors you have not yet opened.

Sex is just a primitive animal impulse, and so many men sell their soul's just for a little box. Pussy is simply not worth the overhead.

Friendship, intimacy, and person who stimulates the mind are so much more valuable than a 4 second spooge.

$50,000 for sex? Hell, give me some lube and the interweb porn. Problem solved for free.

I will let the master speak for the masses.

Clocker has taught so many how to keep the hands of time in correct postion.

I never imagined that a clocksmith would have a PhD in lube.

Also, as Clocker tells us, when the orgasm is done, the room does not have that vaginal stench.

I don't have a vagina, so I don't know the delights of a vaginal orgasm.

Anyway, I was just trying to put "sex" into perspective. Not really of any value at all. I would take the money anytime.

Those "researchers" must have never experienced the phenomenon they were studying and think that charts and graphs can somehow understand human happiness.

It depends.

If we're talking "sex" only...i'll take the money.

If we're talking about making love with a girl i love and want to be with...... you can keep the money.
