Hey

my cousin from scotland is coming here to canada in like a week and a half and i want him to bring his PS2 games but i dunno if they will work over here...

will they? im guessing that my playstation 2 is NTSC and his will be PAL but will the games work in my PS2???

thanks.

No they wont work, You'd need to get a mod chip for your PS2 to play PAL on NTSC system vice versa.

if you have no modchip or swap device (like Swap Magic discs), the region lock will stop you from even booting the games. if you have one of those, the game will still need to be copied, patched and burned or else the color and vertical position will both be incorrect. or else you'd need a hardware PAL-to-NTSC converter. there are plenty of NTSC-to-PAL patches, but unfortunately there are hardly any game-specific patches for PAL-to-NTSC conversion. not much demand for it, i guess, 'cause the NTSC editions are usually considered technically superior & more desirable.

you could try jayteemaster's PAL-to-NTSC patcher. (http://www.geocities.com/jayteemaster2003/) if you have a video capture card in your PC, you could try playing through that... the image quality might not be fantastic, but a lot of cards are designed to accept both NTSC & PAL signals.

nahh no mod chips or convertors, no tv tuner card.

I think we'll just stick to playing my games, thanks anyway.
