Well last year I purchased a computer via ebay, which is kinda like a crap shoot. i was 0/2 before that ( I bought a computer from FenceWay lol get it, ya they went under for fraud cuz they never gave people their computers) but this one is pretty good except for a video card fan that never worked but i jerry rigged it.

Anyways the only other thing that it is loud as a biotch. I was wondering what you guys thought of the best silent cpu fan, and the one with the best performance/$ ratio.

I have a Intel P4 3.06 Ghz CPU on an ASUS P4S8X-X Motherboard

I would really appreciate it because I dont know much about good hardware, more of a software buff

You could buy an 60mm to 80mm fan adaptor and put a $3 fan there for a total of $10-15.

now how much are you willing to spend???? if you really want silent, go watercooling......... but thats pretty expensive........

or try the Zalman CNSP7000A-Cu......... its supposed to be very quiet (25dB)

haha, oh yeah just stick a chopstick in there and it will be much more silent

It works better with your finger, aside from the blood and pain you don't shoot plastic all over the computer...

now what will do more damage......... a couple of flying blades, that have to hit the right part in the comp to do damage, or blood, that can just hit.......... well anything to do damage........

and of course you'll get bone splinters for free!!!!

the fan proboally won't even break either, so its sorta win-win

Features
# Does not generate noise or vibration in Silent Mode.
# Pure Copper base materials ensure excellent heat dissipation.
# Intel Pentium 4 (Socket478), AMD Athlon/Duron/Athlon XP (Socket 462), and AMD Athlon 64 (Socket754) compatible design for broad compatibility.
# 92mm fan inside the FHS maximizes airflow.
# Adjustable fan speed controller (FAN MATE 1) enables control of noise and fan performance.

pay close attention to the first about no noise...

thats runnin about 36.95 bucks on ebay, is that too much cash for a fan?

Storm

well it depends.......

if its that quiet, then its not to much.....

its just what you want with it......

you should prolly check out sites like overclockersclub (http://www.overclockersclub.com) and such for reviews on diffrent fans.......

36 bucks is over twice what i paid for mine, but mine is a lot more noisy....

Also check your mobo, cause its not compatible with all of them due to its large size.

That's for a heatsink and a fan and the combination is very good.
It has been Sprocket's main aircooled choice for several months and if your board will accept it, we highly recommend it.
