:( Trying to encode a .avi file using TMPGEnc. I've followed the guides at dvdrhelp web site, both using the wizard and without it. I tried both DivX and Xvid source .avi's. I've double checked settings and have used VirtualDub to convert the audio .avi to .wav.

All the app's are new DL's.

The read error message is;

read error occurred at address 00402F40 of module TMPGENC.EXE with 47504D50.

BTW I tried unistalling and installing a new different TMPGEnc.

Cheers, OMC

I had this problem for about a week once, and no one gave me an answer. I don't know why, but after I uninstalled all my codecs and did a restart and fresh install I stopped getting the error. Might be worth a shot.

Try changing the VFAPI plug-in settings in the Environmental settings. Write down
the old settings first

I am trying to use Tmpgenc to convert a few hundred MOV files to MPG.
IT WORKS!
But the problem is, the MOV file is about 5mb, but the new MPEG is about 12 mb.

I am just converting original MOV files to MPEG, so that they can be shared easier.

Anyone have an answer to this?

It is because .MOV uses a higher rate of compression than .MPEG.

For the problem with TMPGenc try unistalling and reinstalling your codecs.

Read THIS (http://www.klboard.ath.cx/bb/index.php?act=ST&f=25&t=18634&hl=enviromental+settings) and see if it helps you.

:( Turns out my Codec pack was corrupt and had never properly installed. Thanks for your words of wisdom.
