okay, i have been to many sites trying to get skins for winamp but whenever i download them it doesnt apply the skin. what am i doing wrong.

Do You download them to the skin folder? Also which version of WinAmp are You using?

im using winamp 5 and when i click the link to download them it doesnt let me choose a place to save it too... it just says its saving it to the "temporary folder"

This is generally not a good idea but you could just select to "open" the file right off the net. The file type .wal I think for modern skins should automatically be handled by winamp and when you open it winamp should apply the skin by itself.

Also check your temp folder.

It's always in some weird location. I honestly don't know where because it might vary.

I do know that you can access by going into internet explorer and under one of thoose tabs you can navigate to the temp folder from there. Sometimes I accidently choose to open a file instead of save and that's how I got to it at least.

Let's apply the KISS principle, shall we?

Dont left click the skin's download link. Right click on it instead, and choose "Save target as..." from the menu that appears.
Then you'll be able to choose the file's destination directory.

Once you've downloaded the file to the desired folder, it's just a case of opening Winamp's preferences and going to the skins section you'll find in there to select which one you want to use.

Edit: Oh yeah.. and the temporary folder is usually C:\Windows\Temp
