There is this website I am havign trouble accessing. I used to be able to get to it no problem, but ever since a month or two ago, everytime i try to go there, i get "page cannot be displayed".

I know it is just my computer because everyone I ask can get to the site no problem.

I cleared my cookies, temp internet files, and history, but I still can't access the site.

Any suggestions?

He's saying you have prob been banned or you ip wont allow you access to the site. Your only option you'd be to go through a proxy.

yea I knew someone would come along with the added info
with the way things have been going lately, I shouldn't even being posting ANY help but I'm trying to work past my issues with certain people

I wasn't banned. My friend asked the admin of the site.

I don't know how to use these proxies.

can you ping the site?
at a command prompt do
ping sitename.com

of course, put the correct site name & domain type.

if you get
Reply from (ip address)
Reply from (ip address)
Reply from (ip address)

then...you could try adding that ipaddress to your hosts file.

to use a proxy:

in Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings
Check the 'use a proxy server' box, and enter the ip address & port number of a valid proxy server.
there's a list of em here (http://filesharingtalk.com/proxy_servers.php)

ok it said "Request timed out." 4 times. Sent 4 packets and received 0.

EDIT: I'm able to get into the site with a proxy.

In my internet options, if i uncheck "Use Proxy" my settings will go back to normal right?

well you said that ^ so what's the problem?
perhaps they've banned an IP range that is inclusive of yours?
who knows.....

the problem is proxies are not as fast as my normal internet conenction.

and the only useful proxy help i got was from the guy who posted the link to free proxies on this site. however, those are never updated, and all the ones I have used become slow after a few hours. There appear to be no more I can use anyway on that page.

There is a list of proxies here on this forum

Clicky (http://filesharingtalk.com/proxy_servers.php)

Try changing them until you find one that works well for you. It is amazing the difference in some of them.

You should be able to get one which is as fast as being connected directly.

Remember just change when it gets slow again.

Or Get Some Here (http://www.publicproxyservers.com/index.html)

Or Here (http://www.samair.ru/xwww/proxy.htm)

that was the list i was refering to. I said "the proxy list on this site"
i seemed to have exhausted all the proxies.

thanks for the other links.

I'm not happy with just fixing this problem with a proxy though. I want to be able to go to any site i want with my normal connection, like it was before. Any ideas on actually FIXING this, rather than just formulating a work-around?

Have you tried the traceroute suggestion.

It could be that there is a break between you and the site, maybe a server down or something.

If that is the case then there is nothing you can do about it. It's just a case of waiting until you can connect directly again.

If it is a case of your ip range being banned then there really is nothing you can do about it.

What was the site name or ip ?

i think they meant to a tracert @ the command prompt.

windows key+r, type cmd, then you're @ the command prompt, now type "tracert www.yoursite.com"

it'll then tell you where the connection all hops to, and how long it takes to get there.

Ok, I have this list of locations and such, and then at line 14 it says "request timed out". Each line after that says request timed out.
