Hi,
A few months ago the media was full of stories about how all file sharers were going to be prosecuted.

I read a report on the RIAA site that thy had a list of 7 million people in the UK who used file sharing they had got their IP's and identified them and they would all be going to jail for 2 years ????

It has all gone quiet.

Does anyone actually know anyone who has been prosecuted.

And the media kept saying those who downloaded music so are they after people who download films and software as well ?

The RIAA has no jurisdiction in the UK

7 Million people going to jail for two years in the UK.

Did that not strike you as odd when you heard it? I hardly think the U.K. would build more than two thousand new prisions purely to house folk with copyrighted MP3s on their HD ;)

Coupled with what barbarossa said ^^ It's probably safe for you to disregard the content of that article.

Think of all the new jobs that would be created by this though...

See you all in the big house. :01:

There are only 3 million in my country.

If they tried it then the place would be full of negative people, kinda like Rikk and Cowsey's but with more laughs :o

My Initial thoughts were that it was just scare mongering. They said that they are trying to get the british government to give them juristiction then they are going to EMail us all first to warn us then they will prosecute.
Sounded a bit lame to me.

They're going to email 2 million people
I doubt it :P
They can't just bulk email people either ;)

And another thing, isn't it an infrigment on privacy when they get a list of all the files you got on your computer?
Can't believe such things even hold in court <_<
