What doesn't work and how do you know? How do you know USB v1.1 is in use and not v2.0?
Have you checked to see if v2.0 is switched on in the BIOS?

Just because the driver cd has usb 2 drivers on it doesn't mean that the mobo does.

To find out if you have usb 2.0, go to device manager and under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, it should say something like "Enhanced usb host controller" if it doesn't have the enhanced then you just have usb 1.1 installed.

Try to visit the website of manufacture and see whether they have updates of the drivers. What are the specification of your motherboard. Give us more details so we can have all sort of ideas what is going on.

Looks like Champ is guessing that USB2 isn't installed merely because a USBv1.1 device is working properly on it.
USBv2 ports are backwardly compatible with v1.1 so that mp3 thing will work fine on a v2 port.
Just to make sure, do what spirex suggested and if it's not listed as 'enhanced', go into your BIOS and enable it.
