Problem With Edonkey2000

I've been using edonkey for a few weeks and have never had any problems until now. Now when I use edonkey, it makes my computer really slow until I close it. Even after I close it, it takes a few minutes for my computer to get back to normal speed again. Is this a normal thing with edonkey2000? I'm pretty sure my computer can handle this program without lagging. Here are my computer specs:

Windows XP
2.8 GHZ Pentium 4 processor
512 MB RAM
80 GB harddrive
30 GB harddrive

i've had the same problem with overnet... i think both programs just use too much memory or something like that... (or dont manage it correctly)

you could try a program like mem turbo that will manage your memory and perhaps speed up your computer...
