I was wondering if there is a way to complete a .DAT file of a movie without downloading the whole thing. I am downloading a movie but it is taking forever and I don't want the last half anyway.

Avipreview sucks compared with Videolan (http://www.videolan.org/). Use that instead ;)

Then rename it manually (just use k-dat to make sure of the right file extension).

Though I'm not sure the result will be watchable, since kazaa and k++ downloads bits and pieces of the file at a random order...

Oh, before renaming it manually, copy the file to another folder, just in case something goes awry.

No renaming necessary. Just install VideoLan, right click the .dat file you want to view and select open with Videolan.

It will just be like watching it in media player. Except the movie will work.
