I'm sure most of you have heard of them or come across them somewhere, Are they worth getting? I was thinking of placing one under my gfx card.

do you need extra cooling???

are your temps to high???

if you answered one of these questions with no, dont get it.......

btw, i think a normal 80mm exaust fan would work far better.....

Yeah my temps have shot up during the hot weather. I was in fact thinking of using a 80mm fan but I just thought PCI exhaust would be simple just slip it in underneath the card and thats it. But I might aswell go with a good quiet 80mm fan then if I'd get better results than using an PCI Exhaust.
Thanks

i dont know that for sure, its just my guess.....

it also depends on what you want cooled, if your GPU is running kinda hot, your prolly better of with the PCI blower, but if you overall system is hot, an exhaust fan will prolly work better.....

ive been trying to search for more info on the lil sucker, but i cant seem to find anything that even resembles a review :(

I have one set right under my video card with its oversized heatsink and blows it right out the back.

I would never buy such a thing. Ineffective at moving air because the exhaust area is way too small. Also way to noisy.

Yeah.
You'd be better off hiring mice to blow on your card.

Now that'd give you something to look at through your window.

If your computer is getting to hot you can always get a fan or two but get a good one i recommend http://www.shopping.com/xPO-Antec_Antec_12...ol_Fan_unit_120 (http://www.shopping.com/xPO-Antec_Antec_120mm_SmartCool_Fan_unit_120) This is quite inexpenize and great value for money.

Sorry if this is off topic.

I've never been a big fan of having small fans in my system.
....
anyway! I think small fans are the most useless things ever, they blow little to no air, very innefective, and whiny little bastards at that!

I'd skip the PCI blower if I were you.

Whats the best 80mm fans in terms of perfomance?

rifle bearing fans are very quiet and last longer than sleave bearing (but not as long als ball bearing)

120 mm ones.

Edit: Panaflo and Papst are supposed to be about the best, particularly in terms of amount of air moved for the same noise level.

I had always heard that Pabst fans were supposed to be really hot sh*t, too.
Superior German engineering, and all that.
Recently, at a great electronics store in Boulder, I was elated to see that they carried Pabst fans.
But...
(Bear in mind that the store only carried 3 different fans...the entire line may not have been represented).
The fan hub (motor) was HUGE on those things, easily filling two thirds of the center space, and the blades were proportionately stumpy.
The counter man said that was how Pabst generated so much pressure compared to regular axial fans.

We hooked one up to a PSU and sure enough...it DID move some air, but had a giant dead spot in the center.
Holding it up to my face I could feel a ring or moving air, with hardly anything in the center.

To me, this would render the Pabst completely useless as a HS fan...I don't think you could position it far enough away to get adequate coverage.
It might be suitable as a case fan, but then again, it wasn't particularly silent.

I didn't buy it, BTW.

Papst do 22 different fans (at least) in the 80x80x25 12v range, perhaps your store picked the wrong one. However, the dead spot is a common problem with all axial fans, the one you tried sounds like it was simply worse than most.

One thing I just found out when looking at various fans - Papst fans don't come with mounting screws! Now where have I heard that recently.

Found some here (http://www.endpcnoise.com/cgi-bin/e/case_fan_screws.html), though.

The last time I got my hands on a Panaflo fan is when my neigbor died and his wife had a garage sell, which was 5 years ago.
