View Full Version : Gfx Card Does Memory Make A Difference

Does ram make much difference on grpahics cards.

I see the FX 5700 128MB Ultra is better than the FX 5700 256MB mainly cos of clock speeds and stuff.

So what does RAM do on a GFX if u have alot of PC RAM does this compensate

No games even need to use nearly 256 so it would be pointless to spend all the extra money. But all the guides Ive seen show the 128 does better then 256. ;)

I am looking at the XFX models of nVIdia cards the fx5700 Ultra 128MB DDR3 looks nice for my needs and not to bad priced

I was a while ago thinking of the x800 XT ati but no money for it :( and with pc way it is no point

Also it has dual DVI no normal VGA slot which i use on my current card. I use a converter VGA to DVI i would use normal DVI to DVI but when i connect them up i get no picture on my LCD screen only VGA skit works why doesnt my DVI to DVI

actually 256mb is starting to be used in games. Doom III uses up to 512mb of video card ram, sadly no cards have that much. So 256mb cards are actually better then 128mb cards right now...

keep in mind that when a company makes a card with 256mb of memory, they tend to use low quality, slower memory as well.
They use higher quality memory in the 128mb versions usually.

Well i got my fx5200 256MB but i am looking at these cards i am about to get another 512MB stick of RAM also so i will have 1GBof RAM on my PC
