Installing New Fans

i am trying to replace the fans in my desktop with some new UV blue fans that i bought from Xoxide.com. wen replacing the old ones with the new ones, i used the same power hookups, to my knowledge. wen i turned my computer back on it said some hardware error and that NTLDR was missing. wat does tat mean? im pretty sure i have my power hookups right. is there a tutorial online or a help website to show the right way?

You dont happen to have 2 harddrives do you?

yes i have 2 hard drives, and 40 gb and a 60gb. does tat have something to do with the fan problem or the NTLDR prob?

Your bios might have changed boot priority for your 2 drives. Go in and check to see which hdd it boots from first. Change it to the other drive. Then see if that works.

It would do this because the MBR (master boot record) is not on the drive it is trying to boot to but on the other one.

Ok.

Make sure you only change the hdd only section and not the boot priority for all devices (i.e. boot from cd-rom, floppy, and then 3rd device)

alright i unserstood wat u were saying, i changed the hdd boot sequence and got it working. thanx alot.

only one more prob, they are supposoed to be UV light fans, so they are supposed to be lit up and shining bright. they dont light up or anything? something i need to fix in bios or mobo?

Nope. Should just be plug and go. They must be broken.

i jsut ordered them monday from xioxide.com and they came in today, think they would be broken? i plugged them in and crap, they spin perfect, just i thought they should light up.

As long as they are plugged in and have sufficient power, they should light up, assuming they do.

Atleast you got an answer and fixed your main prob the easy way. I had to find out the hard way... twice :unsure:

EDIT: Yea, that isnt an led fan, it will light up you have one in your case though. Its only UV sensitive.

It got my main hdd with 70 gigs of data and my parents. :frusty: My mom wasnt too happy about that. :smilie4:

ouch tat sux about the hdd, im getting a new 80 gb in like a week, but i think i can only have 2 hdds hook-ed up so i think ima put the 60gb and the 80gb in my cpu, only prob is windows xp is on my 40gb so ima have to reformat or find a prog to ghost it over to my 60gb hdd.

yea tat sux, i wanted them to be blue becuz my case has 2 blue light strips on it and i wanted it all to light up blue at night wen teh lights were off, so it woudl look kool. i guess ima have to wait for a sale on led light fans and get some new ones!

how big a difference is ATA100 to ATA133? would it really matter if i went with a ATA100 as compared to an ATA133?

If you have a drive that is 133 it will be a nice increase in data transfer. ;)

I am aover 90% sure that ATA/133 is 133MB/s and 100 is 100MB/s. So that is a 33% increase in transfer rate.
