its 5mbps if u buy their modem...

or its the regular 3

and if u did buy the modem... try tweaking ur isp

and test ur speeds at www.dslreports.com and do a tweak test

also rogers does not gurantee u will get the exact speeds advertised

:)

Maybe the people you were connected to simply aren't capable of uploading faster then 26KB/s?

Try dl'ing something through newsgroups. ;)

your isp is probably throttling back the ports that Kazaa and even the ports your bittorrent client is using.

i use the bittornado (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/1089830766/1) client and it allows you to change the ports.

Not that low, they will be reserved for other services. Try 54321 to 54329.

Edit: interesting that the broadband report didn't seem to think there was much wrong in getting 1.3Mbps on an advertised 5Mbps service. I don't think I'd be trusting that report too much.

rogers is great for me my only guesss is that some ports are blocked by a router or firewall.

although since i have teh cheap 128k connection, download at about 20kb/s, i guess i wouldn't notice it being throttled.

edit: where in canada do u live? im guesing somewhere in ontario right? :)

damn, if you got the cheap and you download at the same speed as you im definitely changing into the 128k one, no need to pay 5mb connection if it doesnt work

BTW im not behind a router and my firewall is set-up to allow bittornado to download everything...

And yes i am in ontario, waterloo B)

Only thing i can think of is ports being throttled but it's already been mentioned. So i'm not too sure. Best email them about it.
