The phrase "Bring it on" can be used in several ways.

as a challenge to a competetor in an event....confident

As a challenge to a foe you feel you can beat because you have more firepower...arrogant

Then there is the images on the news from the Tampa area where people are refusing to leave and instead board up their windows and write "bring it on charley".... stupid
These people remind me of rabbits playing a game of chicken with a truck.

In regards to weather, i have been fortunate to not being in the situation that i actually had to run for my life. However i have been in some pretty scarey situations.

I don't think anyone could answer that with assurance.

Who knows if your life would have been on the line if you didn't run, if anyone did test out that theory and live to post in reply then their life wasn't on the line and if, indeed, it was then ... they wouldn't be around to answer in the positive

Some people only learn by experience.

Snee
08-13-2004, 07:49 PM
And some people never learn at all again around those parts, on account of having had a cow drop on them, or a house, or a car, or whatever else gets whipped up.

As far as I'm concerned, that's evolution.

No, I'm located in Osceola county where the eye is scheduled to pass sometime tonight. Much too late to run anyway, and I'm in a concrete home. Only just lost my satellite tv, and no power outage yet, although I know that won't last either with 100+ mph winds. I'm hanging out online as long as I can, since I love the cool hurricane photos I have been collecting B)

Not Crazy, just some numb-nut screwed up on the wind speeds, and this was just a minimal category 3 hurricane, then jumped to 145 mph winds in minutes. No longer any time to do anything except hope for the best. Its enough that we have had 3 bands pass over, and I'm still online which means I have power and telephone still B)

Nope, didn't have crap when you sent that reply. I just got my power back 10 minutes ago. Damage to my house was cosmetic, just a few missing shingles, a tree in my backyard that fell, and a few sections of our privacy fence. I ventured out and about the community here as soon as the winds died down, and considered to most, we were extremely lucky. The whole county of Osceola looks like a tornado hit it. There are areas that will be without power for several more days. :(

Glad to hear you and your familly are safe!

Now is the time for the dumb "I-don't-live-in-North-America" question...

Why is it that concrete houses are so scarce in the regions regularly ravaged by storm, tornadoes and suchlike? I mean its not the first time tha states aroung the gulf are hit pretty bad...

I would imagine it is about ones income. Because I grew up in St. Petersburg, I am all too familiar with hurricanes. with certainty, I can tell you I will never live in a manufactured home. I have seen no damage at all to the structures of the cinder block homes we have out here, only damage to the wooden roofs, and metal sidings.

the quote should have been " only just" which was showing that the storm was begining to take its toll :P Besides, I heard some women on the radio yesterday, when most of 5 counties were without power, complaining cause she didn't have internet. ( she hadn't lost power at all )

I did get some shots during the storm. Now that the power is up, we can dump the camera onto a disk, and go do some damage shots. If anyone has some web-space to host for me, send me a pm to let me know.
