ABC
Mar. 23, 1982 - Sept. 13, 1983

This "Happy Days" spinoff starred Fonzie's cousin Chachi Arcola (played by Scott Baio)and Richie Cunningham's sister Joanie (Erin Moran).

Chachi moved to Chicago with his mother, Louisa, and stepfather Al (the same Al that bought "Arnold's" and later named it "Fonzie and Big Al's" when he went into business with The Fonz) and tried to start a singing career with girlfriend Joanie. (Is your skin crawling yet?) Their "band" contained such wacky characters as: Bingo, the spaced-out drummer, fat cousin Annette, and another cousin Mario. Mario and Annette's father "Uncle Rico" was their agent.

I imagine by now you've gone back to this site's homepage to look at the list of links, but just in case you're still reading this, I guess I'll continue.

Joanie and Chachi actually sang several numbers in each episode with voices so bad that it made viewers pine for the dulcet tones of "The Brady Kids". They also sang the show's theme song entitled "You Look at Me". The emotional and oh, so meaningful lyrics to the "Joanie Loves Chachi" theme song are given below. No need to thank me.

-----

"You Look at Me"

Something magic in the way you hold me in your eyes
No one ever warned me love just takes you by surprise
I don't know what's come over me, you've got me hypnotized
when you look at me.

You look at me, soft as any touch could be
And suddenly, there's magic when you look at me
I feel like I'm in heaven every moment when
You look at me.

You look at me, and suddenly I'm captured in your eyes
You look at me.

-----

I really do apologize for including this show on my list, but the "TV Graveyard" website was custom-built for shows like this: mercilessly short-lived utter failures from beginning to end.

[A bit of trivia: When Al left Milwaukee for Chicago to travel with Joanie and Chachi, Pat Morita, the original Arnold, returned to reclaim his duties as proprietor of "Arnold's".]

that pretty much sums up the whole show
