Just post your suggestion here and the admins will read new post. Please do not discuss things here, just list your suggestion in a simple, easy to read format.

SUGGESTIONS ALREADY POSTED

(Bigdawgfoxx)
-Blue= Old post, Red= New post, Symbols make it more confusing.
-List threads in order of New post to No New post.
-Turn the advanced reply system on as default.
-Rating function is pointless. Make stars for post count, like on IPB.
-Rating function on threads is not a good Idea I dont think either.
-Get rid of 4 character limit on post.

(Rossco)
-allow more images per post (currently only 1 )
-make the sig character limit 600 like it was before.
-avatars should be 80*80 ATLEAST. 50*50 is to small.
-let {I}{K}{E} have more admin permissions as he seems to have the time to do a lot for the forum.

(IKE)
- enable PM system by default
- when members edit a post you will always get a 'warning' @ the end of a post
- Some members get errors when they click on: User CP
- Max size of avatar should be higher then 19,5 kb
- I dont think mods should be allowed 2 ban members.
- Hide postcount from members
- Bring back the board rules.

----
- Hardwired Skin is fucked
- Re-add the Banner
- When you click an invalid link you get a Backup message (try: http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/images/smilies )
- Make Jetje and NikkiD forum stars instead of members.
- View Forum Leaders link doesnt work
- Make Sara Mod.

(Zedaxax)
-Go to last post option.
-Link to the main world you came from at the bottom (eg: this should also be at bottom : File Sharing Talk > Announcements & Information > Everything related to this board
-Copy and Paste doesn't always work.

(iMartin)
1)Add new, more appealing skins.
2)Add the arcade.
3)Enable avatars, sigs, and private messages by default.
4)Tweak, customize, and fix the rest of the stuff.

The Icons to the left of the threads are wierd. It should be blue for old post and red for new post or something...all the diff symbols makes it hard.

allready got new once but I cannot upload 2 the server.

Here is my list:

- enable PM system by default
- when members edit a post you will always get a 'warning' @ the end of a post
- Some members get errors when they click on: User CP
- Max size of avatar should be higher then 19,5 kb

Please change it so the sticky threads seem more separated from the normal posts. Also, a bigger avatar and signature would be nice. :)

Maybe im missing something here but....
1.The grey(ish) section around the user name is extremly wide in relation to the rest - and no it is is not stretchable - make your browser thin an watch what gets compacted

2.When at the bootom of page i have to scroll all the way up to clik the eg.Softwareworld link to get to the refreshed front page of software world.
in old fst there where;
a. Arrows on the side so it auto scrolled to the top
b.Link to the main world you came from at the bottom (eg: this should also be at bottom : File Sharing Talk (http://index.php?) > Announcements & Information (http://forumdisplay.php?f=3) > Everything related to this board (http://forumdisplay.php?f=9)
(i seem to be doing alot of scrolling or did i miss something)

3. it seems for me that Copy and Paste dont seem to work smoothly in this forum : by right cliking - paste ("paste" often is not there) yet if i Ctrl V it pastes.-I think its a Firefox Issue -No this is definetly a Problem

4. I Find it unecessary that there is a
"http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/images/icons/icon1.gifRe: post suggestion here" above everypost - we know who were replying too - and it causes visual Choas.
or is it me?

I highly agree with hardcore gamer and IKE, and Zedaxax(A lot of people want the link to main page of the forum your in at the bottom, and so do I.)

Sorry bout the bitching earlier..I have just been here forever, with me and my bud, and I guess I got so used to it I couldnt change...but with better organazation and icons, I think it will be great.

Yeah but it should have all the ones with new post at the top, and the icon on the side should be a diff color then ones without new post...would make it a lot easier.

I think people should psot stuff then IKE or bigdawg add the suggestions to their posts it makes it easier to know what has already been said.

my suggestions are:

- allow more images per post (currently only 1 :( )
- make the sig character limit 600 like it was before. more would be even better.
- avatars should be 80*80 ATLEAST. 50*50 is to small.
- let {I}{K}{E} have more admin permissions as he seems to have the time to do a lot for the forum.
- make the sig image limit more than whatever it is...i know we used to have atleast 16.
- PM System, viewing of sigs and avatars, and other options enabled by default
- Flood Control set to 20 seconds as it was before. 60 seconds is way to long.

This one isn't that important but i know you'll get a lot of complaining:

- Take out the limit of atleast 7 characters in a post.

i agree with bigdawgfoxx about the symbols, they're too confusing
i suggest replacing them with tiny words to indicate wat they are

also, can u add a feature where i can find all my posts...that are grouped in topics (not grouped in posts, pls :))?
that function is very useful to me bcos that's how i check the topics i'm already in

hi, another suggestion:

currently the Search drop-down on the menubar contains textbox for word searches only. can u expand the drop-down to include searching user posts as well?

i know i can click on Advanced Search to do that, but i feel it would be much easier if u put that outside as well

avatars are 80x80 and 20Kb. They always have been and I really don't want to increase it since 20Kb bloats the page load times when 10+ people are using 20kb on every page. THEN theres the sigs too.

Why do some people have the privilege of having a larger Avatar? J'Pol for instance or Storm?. It would be better if we all could have that size on our avatars it simply looks beeter in the forum layout and gives the members a larger choice in selecting pictures!.

The load time is not affected that much by larger avatars. I doubt that most people are still using dial up on sites about P2P like this!. Especially not for people using IE that uses the almost secret Content.IE5 folder with the dreaded Index.dat file folder that cannot be deleted by emptying the Temp Folder and stores all pictures you view on a site so that they load much faster the next time it is viewed.

Edit! Strange that the background suddenly is grey when writting new posts should it not be white??.

Hello!

Why do some members have the option to change the title under their username?

I want that Option too! All members should be able to select their own title to whatever they want except moderator, administrator or root and such. I know that on many other forums that uses the Vb script that option is found under the Edit profile in CP but it has not been enabled here yeat for some reason,

I also think that now when the maximum filesize for avatars have been increased slightly it would not hurt if the avatars could be atleast 100X100 pixels in size which is the most common limit on boards on the Internet.

I also found what seems to be a bug but not sure the profile picture(which is allowed to be 100X100 pixels) is not allowed to be any bigger then 0 bytes for some reason all of a sudden so maybe thats a bug(it does not seem to affect profile pictures that members have already uploaded but maybe it will prevent members from uploading new ones I dont know) !.

Also would it not be fun if the Who's Online function was enabled for all members?. It can be contributing to the community feeling since we can check out where members currently are on the forum and what they are currently doing such as posting new thread in Lounge, replying to thread... etc. this function is found at the bottom of the main Index in the box that have the Currently Active Users and by clicking the Currently Active users link we should(if this function was enabled) see where all the active members are doing at the moment it could be fun!. As it is today that feature is prohibited and when clicking the Currently Active Users Link I get the message that I do not have permission to access that page!.

@Krohn sig and avatars should be 100kb put together, so people should be able to have 80kb av and 20 kb sig or whattever. its what we had befor and worked very well.

JonnoHello!

Agree!

Only 4 images per post thats just to low especially for those PrOn Threads in the Lounge:D!

Give us 20!

And still have not gotten any respons from the admins to my questions or suggestions regarding avatars and some other things, and why only some members have a different title apperaing under their member name. I know it is possible on many other VB forums for all members to write their own title in the profile in CP.

Would it not be great if we all could have avatars in J'Pols size it looks great!:

Edit! How funny is that! I just received the following error when attempting to post this post:

The following errors occurred when this message was submitted:
You have included too many images in your signature or in your previous post. Please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the vB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator.

What a bummer! Must be fixed ofcourse smileys and sigs should not count towards the maximum images in posts!

I like the new style of the forum, but the dates on this new VBulletin board are a bit confusing. I think it would be better if the dates of the posts are written out in full, as they were in the old Invision forum, eg: Sep 4 2004.

In this new forum, the dates are written in the format of 08-09-2004, for example. A non-American pronounces that as the 8th of September 2004, whereas an American would pronounce it August the 9th 2004.
As you can tell, this could cause a great deal of confusion amongst different people around the world, yet I could not find a way to change it in my UserCP.
Just thought I would point that out.

How about just make all teh settings (like how many image sin a psot, etc.) set to exactly as we had it before, then work from that?

it shouldn't take as long since you just look at each page of the admin cp and see what needs to be cahnged then do it all at once (for that one page).

Create an option to set member's contact email to private so the "email this member" link isn't displayed on the member profile.
The option was available on IPB, but apparently not VB.

If people want to contact me, they can PM. Email should only be seen by admin imho.

- Turned the reputation system off for now. Not really needed

- Images per post are now 8 instead of 4

- Minimum charactors per post are now 4 instead of 7

- minimum tuime between posts is now 20 seconds instead of 30 seconds

All good except for the sig size...why only 500 characters? We had no problems before with it set to 600 and many people had problems with that little amount for sigs. It's now even lower.

Too many of the annoyances we once had are now worse, i don't like this.

And filesharing talk should be at the top, along with everything related to this board and stuff like that with lounge at the bottm and worlds in between.

I like most everything, but when a final default style is settled upon, I'd suggest changing the logo to reflect that color scheme. Redesigning the front page to match would be nice also.

making some of the font sizes (particularly member names) smaller would be nice too, as well as the forum icons.
Just way too big.

And I feel sorry for our forum stars, they've a puss-yellow color. :x

It does look a whole lot better when the font is smaller. Less is more. I'd certainly approve it it was made the default here, also I think the icons at the side of the worlds and posts are too big.

Thanks, nice tip. Although in my case, I found I have to hold down the [shift] key for it to work.

While I'm here, guess I'll take the opportunity to whine about the lack of "back to top" links in each post. It's the only thing I'm missing from the old board.

Yeah granted, the quick forum jump is handy... but only if you make it to the bottom of the page.
Oftentimes I want out of a thread/section before I hit the end of the page.

Not Intuitive
-A short instruction page, on how to find a forum
-A short list that shows old ways to new ones and how to convert
old to new (if possible)
-A Faq that deals with all of the needs of those who have trouble with

In other words....add a help button
add a tip page

or do nothing and let us wander and meander in the maze.

Make topic titles automatically make every word start with a capitol...it's not gramatically correct but it looks more professional than with little letters.

Also make excessive punctuation get reduced to one.

so someone write "help!!!!!!!!!!!!" as their title and it changes it to "Help!". Also makes it look more professional.

The Poll Section needs a proper name, post a poll sounds so lame.

We should probably have a poll to decide a name. I'd start it but I've had my poll rations for today.

Also the two sub-sections need distinct names as well. And the current layout of that section is scruffy, get rid of the rules on the first bit and just have the rules pinned within each subsection.
