Start a sports/education program and kids are suddenly bare-handedly killing people...

Some of the consequences are just plain stupid. However, I think I am beginning to sniff out the really silly ones and just dismiss them. I knew when I allowed nude bathing that my population would end up bollock naked most of the time. It was just amusing to see it happen.

You could get your revenge by writing some devious issues yourself. Turn super-capitalist states into socialist military dictatorships. :01:

Yeah, but that would defeat the purpose of the game. Sniffing sillyness and actually making a nation progress isn't exactly the same thing and certainly not why I signed for it in the first place!

I agree with you, but just as in real life one has to decide what actually merrits action. Frivilous bills deserve dismissal

Guillaume

Frivilous bills deserve dismissal

That is what I do... What pisses me off is that the one serious issue per week gets turned to pish because the game is silly!

Silly isn't even the right word, it happens that the game decides, for whatever reason, to actually do something completely different than what you've decided.

Unless not advocating affirmative action and banning minorities from schools is the same thing and nobody told me!

Next time this kind of sh*t happens, the Empire of Kyste will simply cease to be.

They wanted to put up loud speakers all over town to broadcast messages. It was supposed to be used for emergencies but some thought that it would be abused and used to brain wash the citizens. The other option was for citizens to have a mini radio for emergency broadcasts only. Well so I thought.

the world rankings rate you out of the 110,000 current active nations. Click on "The World" on the left hand side for rankings, our check your nation's homepage.

The Heavy manual labor thing is a bunch of crap; and since the citizens keep all of their money (I take 40 blings for every 1000, you take 360 colas for every 1000, not counting what you rip wealthy people for :shifty:, Thats 640 blings a month that can be used for a great healthcare plan and food, if you make 24,000 blings a year. Imagine what 300 blings a month can buy for healthcare!); if they want to go to a beach, they can.

They have their own personalized healthcare plans; free education, and there is next to no unemployed in the first place :)

I got a real interesting one today. Not to sure which way I'm going on this one.

Politicians from a distant and obscure part of BigBank_Hank have been calling for the government to split BigBank_Hank into various semi-autonomous regions, each with an elected council to govern their designated area.

1. "The government is too centralised," complains rural villager, Akira Utopia. "We get these big-city politicians making rulings that effect our way of life, when they have absolutely no idea what our way of life is! One of them even suggested that farmers should be banned from picking crops in case they disturbed the local wildlife! What we need are various councils to govern their own part of BigBank_Hank, giving us the chance to have our say on laws affecting our area. It'll bring politics to the people! Of course this will require the implementation of a council tax to fund it all, but if that's the cost of more political freedom, then so be it!"

2. "Councils? Are you mad?" gasps political commentator, Randy Thiesen. "Most of the politicians we already have earn very large sums each year - and you want to employ even more?! We must not listen to the whims of some dangerous separatist movement, next they'll be wanting independence! I suggest we keep the government in one place where we can keep an eye on it and stop creating more jobs for over-paid politicians. Heck, why not trim off the ones we don't need while we're at it and give some leeway to the tax payers? Anyway, if we allowed places like West BigBank_Hank to make decisions for themselves, they would soon be introducing laws allowing them to marry their cousins or something - you know what they're like..."

3. "These people are obviously power-hungry lunatics," whispers Faith Longfellow, one of your innumerable advisors. "They're simply trying to loosen your grip on the nation! Let's just send anyone who opposes your absolute rule to the gallows and ban elections. We hardly need them when you always know what to do! There may be some protest, but we can just lower taxes and they'll be as happy as clams."

The Issue

Children as young as eight have been spotted gambling in some of Vidcc's seedier casinos.

The Debate

Social activist Roxanne Dodinas is outraged. "Gambling needs to be outlawed immediately. It's no wonder children are becoming sucked into the vice, with adults setting such a poor example. Gambling is a stain on Vidcc's international reputation and it must be stopped!"
However, Crown Casino chairperson Konrad Shiomi says, "What's wrong with children gambling? It prepares them for the realities of life, teaching them that success or failure is not due to hard work or intelligence, but the roll of the dice. Besides, if kids weren't gambling, they'd be spraypainting trains."
where is the option to police casinos to make sure underage gambling doesn't take place?
A poor thought out issue....dismissed.

The Rogue Nation of Spifreny is a very large, environmentally stunning nation, notable for its complete lack of prisons. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 76 million have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The small government juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Education. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 6%. A healthy private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Pizza Delivery and Information Technology.

The government helps teach children how to kill a man from six paces, convicted murderers are free to walk the streets provided they attend rehabilitation classes, child labor has been outlawed, and army rations are served on silver platters. Crime is a major problem, probably because of the country's utter lack of prisons. Spifreny's national animal is the Ant, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Bling Bling.

Scientists using cloned human embryos for research are on the verge of a medical breakthrough.

The Debate

"It's really very exciting," says lab head Buy King. "Until now, we've kept very quiet, to avoid being targeted by lunatic fringe groups who for some reason think it's wrong to clone human embryos. It's too early to promise anything, but we hope that one day we will have genetic cures for a whole range of debilitating illnesses. I certainly hope the government will support our work."

This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.
"Well, if you have to be part of a lunatic fringe group to object to this barbaric practice, I'm a lunatic," says placard-waving protestor Calvin Jong-Il. "Of course it would be nice to cure these unnamed diseases, but at what cost? They're messing with the sanctity of human life. It's wrong, and the lab should be shut down immediately."

i have a feeling that eveyone will look the same soon....i am probably being naive thinking that when they say clone embryos they are doing it for the genetic material and not to produce humans

The Issue

Secularists have been urging for the government to impose an income tax on religious organizations in Vidcc for some time now, and the issue has finally made it's way to the upper levels of the government.

The Debate

Self-appointed civil rights spokesman Prudence Christmas declares, "Churches are business organizations with a large income. It's unfair that they don't have to pay the same taxes that everyone else does. If they really do spend on any money on charity, let them write it off as a deduction just like corporations do. There's no reason that so-called clergy should be chauffeured around in limos tax-free, when we desperately need funds for public works."

This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.

"Freedom of conscience is foremost among liberties", says Reverend Hack Wall. "Churches have been exempted from taxation because it is wrong for the government to infringe on the right of people to worship as they please, and that includes charging them for the right to worship. Besides, churches are non-profit organizations that put all their funds back into the community."
The Honorable Beth King, Minister of Minding Other People's Business, has an idea: "This religion thing is such a great racket, why don't we make it a government monopoly? We'll ban all religions except the Church of Vidcc, and make attendance and donations compulsory. I'll start writing the Holy Scriptures right away!"

The Issue

Tragedy struck Vidcc today, as a gunman killed three people in a suburban shooting rampage. The community is united in grief, but divided in opinion as to what should be done.

The Debate

The strongest voices demand tighter gun controls. "The only way to prevent further atrocities is to take the guns out of the hands of the murderers," says anti-gun campaigner Thomas Frederickson. "There's no justification for them in today's society. We need tighter regulations on who can hold guns, so only our police and military have them."

This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.

"That's not all we need," says radical left-wing activist Stephanie Falopian. "The government should ban all guns outright--even in the police force. This is an opportunity to make Vidcc a totally gun-free state."
"Guns don't kill people, people kill people," says NRA head honcho Jennifer Broadside. "If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns. Is that what we want? Think, people. The answer isn't to ban guns. It's to crack down on those Hollywood movies and computer games that glamorize violence. They're the real criminals."
:01: :01:

Probably find some fundamentalist right wing gun nut put those issues and i'm going to have 100% tax and muderers letting loose in the mall with ak47s:rolleyes:

The Great Wall of Kyste?
The Issue

Due to the ongoing wars in neighboring countries, a recent rash of illegal immigrants have been caught at the borders of Kyste, prompting many citizens to call for tighter immigration laws.
The Debate

1. Johann Christmas of the Kyste National Purity League says "These illegal aliens are just an eyesore with their strange customs and funny languages. Uneducated immigrants like these only worsen crime and steal valuable jobs! I say we should boot them all out on their ears and put a big fence around the country!"
[Accept]

2. Larry Hamilton of the Kyste Civil Liberties Union says "We must welcome these refugees from any nation into our open arms, they are fleeing one oppressive dictatorial regime in the only way they know, we must not let them think they're jumping from the frying pan into the fire!"
[Accept]

3. "Hold on there, hold on people!" says Chastity Frederickson of the Kyste Broadcasting company, "We don't have to take either extreme, all we have to do is make a TV game show out of it! We put deadly obstacles on the border and monitor it with television cameras! Those that make it across win freedom and citizenship, and those who don't, well, lets just say that our buzzards won't starve. We could call it 'Who Wants to be an Immigrant?'!"
[Accept]

Haven't chosen yet, though.

The Debate

1) The High Minister for Finance, who also happens to be your brother, dismisses the claim. "What these people fail to realize is that you know what's best for them. The alternative is anarchy! I say stick to your course. And execute these wackos for treason."

2) "Perhaps the people could be given some more political freedoms," muses your Chief of Staff, who is your sister. "Is there really such harm in allowing public discussion of ideas? We could even have a real Opposition Party. One that isn't just full of your puppets, I mean."

The People's Republic of GEP
"Where's there's GEP there's happiness"

UN Category: Compulsory Consumerist State
Civil Rights: Some
Economy: Thriving
Political Freedoms: Rare
Location: FST Resident Evil

The People's Republic of GEP is a huge, safe nation, notable for its punitive income tax rates. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 319 million are rabid consumers, partly through choice and partly because the government tells them to and dissenters tend to vanish from their homes at night.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, pro-business government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Healthcare. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 78%. A healthy private sector is led by the Furniture Restoration, Uranium Mining, and Information Technology industries.

TV shows must meet strict ethnicity quotas, major cities are suffering under water rationing, citizens rise at daybreak every day for mandatory exercise, and employers may fire workers without giving any reason.
