As WNE and TalkClub have been merged, its been sugested that we give the area a new name, to make it sound a little better...

How about serious Discussion or something like that.

Wassup? - Main title
In the world (or your little section of it anyway) - Section description.

Actually a sad but serious suggestion:)

The wording of the description can change a bit, but I am too tired to think it out just now.

MagicNakor suggested The Drawing Room, which I kinda like as it seems appropriate.

I've already posted this in the other thread ... but, meh

S.o.S wich is short for "Serious On Subject"

MagicNakor

Yes, I did suggest The Drawing Room. I think it contrasts well with "The Lounge," and the place itself has more an atmosphere of a drawing room. ;)

How about "Chewing the Fat".

Seems to give the impression that you've thought about what you are going to say without it necessarily being too serious all the time.

As much as this pains me to agree on something with Busyman I also like the sound of this title.

Sounds like a lounge but I like the name.

It's the name of the lunchbreak room of the Bank Of America next to the White House.

Magic,

I thought I came up with this one the first time around?

The Gentlemans Club
The Drawing room
The Velvet room
The Conservatory- not appropriate, but I like the sound.

Anyway, that old thread seems to have been eaten

Good ones,
especially The Conference Room, it sounds a bit more "official" since it has a lot of
good, serious opinions about.

MagicNakors suggestion The Drawing Room sounds equally appealing, atleast.

Well whad'ya'know, I never post there but I do read a lot whats the daily "issues".
Maybe I lack the hair on the chest or somewhat... Or maybe im just taking english lessons.

:D

Anyways, the namechange is in order in my opinion.

I like Busyman's "Round Table Discussion" idea.

It's got a certain ring to it that doesn't sound overly pompous.

Possibly, I've said a few times that I didn't actually come up with it, I just borrowed the one I liked from the old Iraq War poll. I searched for the Iraq poll to see who did come up with it before I even suggested it, but alas, the poll is gone. :(

Of all the names suggested thus far, I like RTD the best by far..but only in its abbreviated form.

The only offering from my tired mind at the moment is FST DC (Discussion Chamber)...sort of like Washington DC or something.
Or, if we'd like to stick with the "rooms named after locations in Clue" it could be coined The Conservatory
I'm especially fond of this one.

or...to steal the name from a short-lived section of a very popular forum...'The Situaton'

Just checking, is Talk Club meant to encompass SportsWorld as well?

manker
10-18-2004, 04:06 PM
Nope, SportsWorld was subsumed into the lounge. At least that's where the posts have been dumped.

If I want a serious discussion on sport then I'm going to post it in Talk Club (or whatever it is called). The description does say that it is for serious discussion on any topic.

I don't really want to start a topic about Newcastle's chances in Europe and have it ruined by Capt Spazmoid and his band of gimps. Nor do I want off-topic trolling from people who don't like soccer.

Having said that if I've just been to the pub and watched NUFC thrash Man Utd then I'm pretty much going to gloat in the Lounge.
