It's not a new offering from AOL. They have been giving it away for some time now. It's just a crippled version of the regular Mcaffe Firewall.

A firewall does nothing to protect you from the RIAA, that is unless you have a bad IP blocker (I.E. of such a program is protowall) and bad ranges built in. Even then, it's only as good as the sources feed into it.
