Under Network Adapters in Device Manager I see Ethernet Controller but it has an exclamation mark by it.

It says The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver. Im pretty shure this is my crossovercable because im having problems ftping to my Xbox and it is under Network Adapters. Can someone tell me how to get this working?:01:

Have you trie to remove it and let it reinstall?

Right click >Ethernet Controller
Choose> remove/uninstall

After doing so highlight >David, right click and choose scan for hardware changes (something like that)...........see what happens (if drivers are not already available, make sure to have them on stand by).

If it's the crossover cable, remove that and see what the reaction is.................

Okay I was browsing for that type of issue and ran across this. It's another forum but take a look at the last entry, referencing removing ethernet card:

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_network&message.id=35561

Maybe that will stir up some use

Thx alot for the research.:) My ethernet device is onboard so I can't really remove it. Do you think this would this still work if I can't remove it? I would like to know before messing anything up.

try booting to safe mode then remove it.

What motherboard is it? i ask so we can find you the best driver for the onboard network card, as this is what is needed to get it to work.

I can't find anything on that intel website. Did the motherboard come with a driver cd? try installing the ethernet drivers from that if it did.

And what about safe mode...were you able to remove it?

Ok now I know how to install it but the files did not include e100b325.sys and when it is installing it stops and asks for this file. Does anyone know where I can get this file from?

You may have to check in >system32/drivers or the Windows XP drivers.cab file should include a driver file E100b325.sys for an intel nic.

XP cd, do you have?

Okay departing from work, I'll get back on after getting home and help out more if you haven't already found the solution.

Okay departing from work, I'll get back on after getting home and help out more if you haven't already found the solution.Ok, I got the file of the Windows XP CD then I had to find like 5 more files it needed so I had to find those on the internet. I had then finished the driver installation and I rebooted. I checked the device in Device Manager and now I get another error:

edit: you posted as i posted lol.

i think you're using either the wrong driver or it's not installing properly.

Try going to windowsupdate.com and see if it lists a driver update.
I'll look a bit harder for a driver for you.
