I am ready to stop using IE -- cuz Im sick of it ... and because of the worm that I got ..

SO I was looking into Mozilla Firefax.

BUT I read stuff like:
"I changed to Mozilla about a mount ago amid discussions about IE's security vunerabilities...

I'm now considering changing back...

I seem to have a lot more problems with Mozilla than with IE...

U have to wait for a page to load completly until you can click on a link
U have to click links several times
When u try to download something, it can take forevere to register
U can't seem to clear the completed downloads from the download manager
I still need to use IE for messenger!
...& a few more! "

What r you guys using and what do u consider as a better alternative to IE

All the problems in Firefox can be fixed if you upgrade to the latest version, and you make a clean profile. Delete "C:\Documents and Settings\<your account>\Application Data\Mozilla" (You have to be showing hidden files to see it in Explorer). This will delete your bookmarks as well, so remember to back them up.

Oh yea... Opera is a good alternative.

it's firefox, dude
u gotta get urself some extensions
check out the following (recommended)

Adblock (removes ad from webpages)
miniT (u can move the tabs left and right)
Tabbrowser (for a truly tabbrowsing experience)
Flashgot (if u have leechget, flashget and etc, this will bridge firefox with them)
Dictionary Search (searches the meaning of the word u highlighted)

BTW Im used to the Netcaptor tabbed interface. So for FireFOX I d/l the tabbed extension but it does not work -- you have to right click and say open in tab ...

Also, FireFOX does not have inline autocomplete

And with FireFox, some pages that have pages within (frames) do not scroll with the middle button(wheel)

just observation so fat (the negative ones, the positive are so manyto list :) )

ie was on "auto-destroy mode" for me... everyday a new error and it was taking ages to load the program and pages...

after months tryng to reinstall the damn thing i gave mozilla firefox a try... AWSOME.. it loads faster (pages and the program itsef)... i love the tab function (usually i'd have 10 ie windows open.. now its just 2...)

the only time i use ie now is to load some pages that are only possible to load with it... but if there's a way to bypass that... i'll throw ie to the garbage!...

opera's what I use.

What does Firefox have that Opera doesn't? Is it really work the switch. I like using my custom mousegestures, etc.

I really really like Opera, but I hear constant praise for Firefox. Is it really worth the switch?

just observation so fat (the negative ones, the positive are so manyto list :) ) You can change the tabbrowser options to allow you to open in tabs whenever you want...i have TabBrowser Preferences

ive never yet found a page where i cant use the scrolly wheel? sometimes have to click the frame to give it focus, but i think thats universal?

Anyhow - FireFox...all the way!

I really really like Opera, but I hear constant praise for Firefox. Is it really worth the switch? Only you can answer that question. It's a matter of preference. I used Opera for years, but switched to Firefox a couple of months ago. Opera has customizability, but Firefox has a bit more speed and stability.

Try it for yourself.

I use Firefox 1.0PR. Even on dialup, Firefox is a bit faster than IE. Also, I've never gotton any pop-ups with Firefox's built-in pop-up blocker.
