if my mouse idle, the wmp/winamp/or any other music playing software will do something 'brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt' sound. like distorted or so. i have to move my mouse around and around to prevent this. :(

owh, btw this thing happened to some videos to. i keep thinking its either about my quick heating cpu or the softwares themselves.

reinstall your codec packs and reisntall sound drivers.

also make sure microphone is disabled in your sound properties. I've heard some pretty weird things from the microphone jack.

i had removed my microphone jack and that brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt sound still there.

its not always 'brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrt'ing but just sometimes. i dont know what the hell it is. the thing in my mind now is the heating of my cpu.

Where do you get your music? Maybe you are listening to RIAA re-mix of your songs?

erm dont wanna sound as though im taking the piss, cos this one had me stumped for an age - its not the speakers is it?

maskawaih

its not speaker's fault. since when the brrrrrrrrrt happens the music/movie halt too. and then continues back.

viruses, spyware, slow computer, look in task manager and make it reproduce that sound and see if anything is using 100% cpu.

When the 'brrrt' sound happens, is it because windows is trying to load a screensaver?

Sounds like screensaver to me, in your Display Properties, there's a box that tells your pc how long to wait before the screensaver kicks in, set that to maybe 20 minutes or longer, or don't have a screensaver on. ;)

Is the brrrrt sound coming from your cpu or speakers?

a CPU doesn't make any sound.

Oops, quite right, I meant hard drive, an old one of mine used to make a similar noise when it was playing up.

Cheers Rossco.

My Mom had a very slow computer and whenever she use to use any application along with music in the background, it use to make that kind of sound. May be that's what it is.
Another thing that I can suspect is memory intensive screen saver.

Try updating or reinstalling sound card drivers.

if you aren't sure what to use then tell us what motherboad you have (if the sound is onboard) or what sound card.

Help~~! this annoying brrrrrrrrt sounds. <_< I've take out the ps2 mouse port but the brrrrrt still happens. :( So its not the mouse problem then.

edit: i couldn't think of any other possibilities other than to do a full reinstallation of ur comp

if that still doesn't work, then it's time to test each and every part of ur hardware...one at a time
