So I'm looking to get an mp3 player that's got a decent amount of space (I'd use it for work), but isn't $500 or so. ;) Any suggestions?

theres some good cheap ones on ebay im thinkin of buying one also as soon as i get some money

iPod just cost $299 it's not 500 though ;)

Actually, an iPod would cost me $400.75, which is beyond what I'm willing to pay. ;)

Do you consider buying a used ipod at ebay?

You would get it certainly much cheaper.

Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen...or alternately, Creative has a new one called the Zen Micro.
It has but 5 GB of storage...however, that's still quite a lot of music, and it has lots of extra features.
I believe it's retailing at about 250$ right now.

i just got my free ipod from that freeipods.com site that everyone was mad here about.

guess it wasnt a scam... it rox btw, i'd recommend it. new 4th gen 20 gb

It's a pyramid scheme kinda'. But instead of paying for the priviliege of recruiting new members to gain something, they make you accept advertisements or something.

And to get that Ipod I think you have to recruit more people, who in turn have to recruit even more people in order to get their ipods (the pyramid part).

It seems to me that it's entirely possible to get that ipod and everything, but I dunno' how much time it'll cost you. And I'm not that keen on the method either.

As for the original question I've heard that the zen is cheap and all, but that the philips 140 something is better.

I dunno for sure, but for a cheap solution I would
check minidisc players, they do play mp3's but it might
be more like a "thing in the past".

And im not sure how expensive they are, but Im guessing
one could get minidisc player cheaper than iPod.

Also, they need the discs too...
