I sometimes get chest pains too, I think mainly its indigestion.
You have to worry if they spread down your left arm though. If you are worried or its getting quite bad its always advisable to consult your local GP

Do you smoke?
How old are you?
Do you live in the city?
Do you exercise?
Is this pain a dull deep pain or a sharp stinging pain?
Do you slouch in your chair?
Could be 1 of a million things but if you're concerned, go to the doctors :)
Hope you get it sorted :)

I had a bad cold last year and I started getting chest pains - like a shooting pain every 15 mins or so - so I rang NHS Direct and they got me an appointment to see an emergency doctor.... turned out I had Pluracy

Sharp pain is fine.
Sharp pain is usually related to inflammation of your chest wall muscles or the cartilage in your ribs. Inflammation of the lining of your lung (pluresy) is another.
All these causes are not treatable, except with aspirin, for the symptoms, and will go away on their own.
If you are worried about heart disease, the symptom is that of pressure, like an elephant is sitting on your chest. Your left arm may go numb.
Don't worry, you will be fine.
