What is the point of switching post count off in the lounge?

I know we done all this and joked/moaned about it, but I'm serious, what difference does it make?
I remember them turning it on to stop spamming in the other places, that was a good idea, it worked.
So there's a point to having it switched on, but why bother switching it off? :huh:

Sorry, I just don't get it :blink:
