I dont know if this should be in Hardware World or not... but if so... then it can be moved.

Anyway, I am looking for the best minidisc recorder for live concert recordings with an external mic. I have looked at reviews and cant come up with anything worthwhile. Too many negatives on Sonys that I read about... and I dont know about Sharps.

I also called Best Buy and Fry's Electronics here in California, and they just keep you on hold forever and dont know shit ... and eventually hang up on you.

Very frustrating!!!

So, if anyone has some ideas... I need lots.

Thanks!!!

Yo Yo -mm-

I've done some Minidisc Live gigs with a Sony,
particularly the Stereo Mic was sort of good.

The quality would never be really excellent me thinks.
But, if one could test the best Mic placement before the concert,
in the soundcheck etc, that would help a lot.

Best would probably be if you could plug it straight to the mixing-console,
but if you're bootlegging Iron maiden or something, I dont think they'll let you do that.

Of course, the audience adds (with a mic.) its own vibe to it too, he he...

No, I cannot really help you on this, just shared some of my own experiences.

Hey Hey Sling. :)

Yeah... I am interested in doing audience recordings and, I still dont know which to buy... cuz I have read about Sonys just taking a crap after a year... and I dont wanna waste a couple hundred dollars if its going to go ass up. I want a durable long lasting unit. Plus, I do want it to for use with playing mp3s... like having a good cdplayer/mp3 player all in one unit.

Anyway, I guess I will keep looking.

Talk with you soon.
