Walking Contradiction (as Green Day put it)

I like cleaniness, but I hate cleaning,
I like winning, but I hate seeing people lose,
I like peace, but I hate silence,
I like order, but I hate routine,
I like choice, but I hate decisions,
I like to get to know people, but I hate conversation,
I like help, but I hate being open,
I like solitude, but I hate lonliness,
I like company, but I hate people,
I love life, but I hate living.

this is a collection of my thoughts and emotions over the last couple of weeks, i'm just a bit stressed and need to sort my head out

does this work as a poem? i tried to make each line progressively darker, did that come through?

I like it a lot! It definitely works for me and it did come through, I hate poems that rhyme.

However I hope you're not truly feeling all of these things but that they represent some of the feelings you have about moving away.

To follow your theme; the poem compelled me to reply yet in general I'm apathetic toward poetry.

:) I thought it was pretty good.

 Could have it wrong, but it kind of sums up life doesn't it? Full of contradictions, both within ourselves and in everyday life?

Juxtaposing if you will.
 Shouldn't use big nasty words like that when it's getting late and I'm drugged up.

:D But yes, I guess that's correct.

It worked for me.

It worked for manker.

It must be good.

Coz he's an accountant.

Now that would have worked a lot better if the first letter of your impression of my profession didn't require an appending of the indefinite article.

It took me a while to get it :P

That's enough talk of sacrificing accountants.

There was holy hell to pay recently at the merest hints of chastising chavs and the warming of a Wiccan.

Btw,

Holy hell you say.

Are you a satanist as well as an accountant. I can accept the satanist thing, chap here already is one, but an accountant ....
If only the profession got as much respect as the religeon.

They were on an even keel until those feckers from the Navy stuck their oar in

Exactly, even the Navy hates accountants.
Too true, bunch of Radio Luxembourg bastards think they are a fiscal law unto themselves.

I like it. I'm wondering if using a full-stop at the end instead of a comma would be more effective. I'm not just being picky, I just think it would make each couplet stand out more as a statement.

The jury is out on that one.

Good poem though. :D

Edit: This board really sucks for placing smilies by the way...

i used commas because i thought it was all really just one big juxtaposition, not a series, but a full stop would be grammatically correct, and you're the english student so i guess you're right ;)

and indeed placing smilies is a pain in the arse
