I sent my friend a link to a guide in here and he accessed it w/o having to log in. Couldnt MS and other companies easily see all our posts?

Just think about all the filesharing discussion that goes on here.

There's nothing illegal about talking about filesharing.

Talking about filesharing is not illegal.
Thats why DDL (direct download links) of torrents and mp3's and
generally copyrighted material is not allowed here so that
Admins/board-owners dont get to trouble, legal stuff.

So if I say I have a d/led copy of Hal0 2 MS/Bungie (if they see it) wouldnt do anything about it?

They'd have to have some proof, not some text they got on the internet.
If they did try to sue over a post on a forum, every judge in the world would just laugh at them and kick them out of the court. :P

And how exactly does that work out  , that and Bush are completely different, although Singaboiy's avatar gives it away

Yeah like Mr.G said, it's simply text on the net, who's to say who you are anyway? , you could be someone pretending to be you, so who do they go after? Who would they take to court?
You?.......How do they prove it was you who wrote that?
It's all bollocks really :01:
However, depending on your host you can get in trouble for links to illegal d/l's etc
Jonno
It doesn't even matter if they can prove who you are, it is hearsay evidence and not admissible.
It's like saying "I just won 20 million on the lottery, stuff you Mr Tax Man, you aren't getting a penny." No worries, they would have to prove I had actually won 20 million.

They would also have to pass some legislation making lottery winnings taxable :P
