i don't know i guess. why use the ac3 codec? i don't know the names of other sound codecs, but the others are just better volumes. why use a codec that u have to blast the damn speakers? thank you.

that file is for when you encode video files with such programs as Dr.Divx.It can also be used with files that have multi-speaker streams of audio, you can control each speaker from there. Its a key file to have nonetheless.Tell then adieu

ac3 isn't in all files and (once again) other files without ac3 are louder. so, why use ac3? non-ac3 files play thru my 5.1 fine. so, what does ac3 have to offer?

AC3 offers multi-channel audio. Also less quality loss than for example mp3.

The newest version of the K-Lite (Mega) Codec Pack has an option to boost the volume of AC3 audio streams. But you can also manually tweak the settings of AC3filter.

i use the ac3 boost option and i like it. can u make the volume even louder by tweaking? i'll have to look into that.

Just increase the master gain control.

i haven't seen much difference with the master gain option. maybe only works with "some" files?

if the file is ac3 encoded,or is a codec that uses ac3 (ogg uses a similar program) then yes only "some files" will work using the master gain control. You could make live lovely an encode all your files with ac3,an adjust your sound card an audio settings.Tell then adieu

P.S. ever been to Corpus, its not as lovely as pictured.Neither is Texas.Hate living here.

you use the ac3 boost when your file is either encoded with ac3 or is an extension that uses ac3.I believe ogg uses ac3 filter,an a few other files. Now as for how you use it,when you have a file that is using ac3 you are welcomed to the "Main" window. There you will fine a section entitled "Gains".You have master an Gain. Each one of those will boost the audio.Tell then adieu
