I am going to buy a new cdrw drive for my comp. Not sure whether to go for an internal or an external and if i went external is it better to get an external ide case or go for just a standard external drive.

What do you recommend i go for?

Thanks in advance.

Oh and comp specs are
Athlon2800,512 2700 ddr RAM,120 gig seagate(out at moment),80 gig wd,ati 9600 pro.

go for internal, alot cheaper, less hassle, and no extra hardware lying about the place.

For the price of an extrenal CDRW drive you could buy an internal DVD Burner.

Thanks.Just ordered this http://www.novatech.co.uk/NOVATECH/SpecPage.html?NEC-ND2500.Only cost £40 too.
I have a dvd burner installed already so need to set new one up as a slave. Will be able to install it fine but not sure if i need jumper like you do with a hdd and if i do how do i find out where to put it on master?Think it might be middle 2 pins out of the five...hope that makes sense....or maybe i am talking jibberish....Any help would be grateful.cheers to all.

on the back of the drive you will see 3 sets of 2 pins...they'll be labelled sl, ma, and cs. simple enough right? :)

why the need for a cd-rw then, if you already have a dvd burner.

£3 more and you could have had a 16x dual format double layer writer

Well my dvd burner is a combo and wanted to get another cdrw so my dvd is not over used for just burning cd's.Having looked around i found a good deal for another combo for not much more than i would spend on just a cdrw so i bought another combo. That drive looks good Livy but i need mine to be black.

Thanks Rossco easy when you say it like that.:)
