Marine Website (http://www.thegreenside.com/Home.asp?SID=4170&N=Home) I thought some of you may want to read the opinions, journals and emails from some of our marines in Iraq.

Thanks for the link...

You know what's interesting about this? All the sites I used to read that were somewhat critical of the efforts in Iraq were shut down, or have significantly changed their tune to more mundane posts.... while all the sites that are, shall we say, more pro occupation, are rolling along fine... for example

(from Leviraq (http://leviraq.blogspot.com/))

Sorry folks, I’ve been advised to stop blogging for the time being. I haven't violated operational security or anything like that. This is just the way things have to be for right now. I’m thankful for being allowed to do something like this in the first place. I'll republish my posts in the future (new and old). For those of you interested in helping Iraqis or service members, I've posted some links. There are plenty of other soldier and Iraqi blogs I've posted links to that are well worth the read, so check em' out. Thanks for your support,
Levi btw, the title, LevIraq has nothing to do with Leaving Iraq, his name is Levi and it's a play on words...

I just thought it was an interesting observation...

I would imagine it would get pretty hard to find an isp over there at times.

Well, hopefully, they can all get word back to us as they are able, and hopefully they are able to eventually return home, Scroff.

I think the important thing is to keep looking, even after you find a view point you agree with. :)

The "pro-occupation" blogs don't seem to have any problems... the troops have internet through sattellite hook-up, even the guys in the front lines. They all have it. Access to a laptop might be a different story...

How do you think I know that the "pro-occupation" blogs are unchanged?

As I've already stated, I read views from RightMarch and Jerry Falwell to moveon....

To help me understand who your enemy is, Scroff, would you say it is everyone in America who voted for Bush, and possibly all of those who didn't vote? And also, I would like to ask you if you have any aspirations to teaching these Bush voters the error of their ways, or to alienate them even further with your views?

I think the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean InSannity, Michael "Savage", Joe (hey, what's this dead woman doing in my office???) Scarborough, and their millions of listeners have already alienated and divided this country... I could do no better.

The enemy are people who send out emails like this "We will also soon be implementing a more responsive ranking system where your organizational rank will be determined by your participation in our world-wide effort to destroy the left intellectually."

or

"I could not hold back the tears of joy. Hour by hour, we observed a "slam dunk" as the Church of Jesus Christ made the difference in initiating the return of this nation to moral sanity and the Judeo-Christian ethic."

That's but a few examples....

At this point, I'm not trying to do anything with these folks, they are beyond teaching... but those "swing voters" aren't. After a few mopre years of the Moral Majority running the show, I think people will return to a saner viewpoint.

Allright, Scroff. Your original post to me said "If you have to ask, you must be one."

I responded by asking you "Be one what, Scroff?'

I am sorry you are having trouble answering, or following that. I realize that since I posted this question to you, you went back into your post and wrote a lot more to what originally just said "If you have to ask, you must be one.

If you want me to follow, by going back to see what you have added, I will do so........will I find my answer there?

Could you give me an answer, explaining who exactly your 'enemy' is here and why I must be one by asking the question I asked, Scroff?

RF: I am sorry that you feel I am sniping by asking questions. On what do you base this assessment of the situation? Am I being 'sniped' at here by Scroff? I don't think so..........but wait a minute..........if I was, you had a hand in it did you not?

The trouble with type is...

You cant see facial expressions or body language.

I have to go on the words typed, with maybe a little help from smilies if they are used, to indicate in what context the type is meant. Unless i know the member quite well, in which case i can usually guess.

I therefore have to put remarks asking people not to snipe or get personal, if it looks like it may be heading in that direction....

...even though im often wrong in that regard, its better than letting a full scale war break out (or appear to break out). ;)

I understand you have to do this, RF. If you ever have a question of whether I am getting personal, or snipey, please do not hestitate to pm me. I don't always have the time it takes to post a smiley face, and I apologize if that seems to be confusing at times. I would hope the other posts I have made on this board would in some way let you know I mean no malice to anyone. But I do have questions, I hope that is okay?

Of course its fine...

However; if i post something in a thread aimed at everyone, I feel its a lot fairer than PMing just one or two people.

Anything posted in a thread by me is just myself saying "Careful" to everyone..

Unfortunatly if i PM someone, they sometimes think they are being singled out or, worse getting "warned" officially and i do not want people thinking that.

I can see your reasoning. One question? :D What if you get out of line? :D

There are other Mods and Admins..

And you can always PM me, chances are that if i've upset someone (other than them having oposing views that is ;) ), its probably either a mistake or a misunderstanding.

Im quick to appologise to those i do, if they take something personally.. or i like to think i am, anyway

Im sure there arethose that will disagree with that :P

Then I have to take him to the Yukon and leave him on an ice floe.

Now, really...those poor guys in Iraq probably don't want to be hearing about ice floes, so let's move on, shall we? ;)
