Hello there,

I am a leecher in its worst kind of online form. I got cable broadband download at 1MB+/sec (MB, not Mbit) but hey, screw all the rest of you. I upload at 50KB/sec and don't expect me to upload much.

Now why is that? Because I live in Belgium and our ISP's f*ck with us. We have monthly download limits (15GB/month) and we can only upload 10% of that amount. That means 1.5GB upload a month… Can you imagine? Not even half of a DVD-R a month. And the funny thing is, we can't even upload fast.

I have the fastest line available and it's a 6.6Mbit down, 512Kbit up.
(6.6 is the minimum guarantied and the 512Kbit is a capped max)

So they force me to be a leech!! And I have at least 900GB of stuff to share with the world.

Please help me and my fellow Belgians and sign this petition.

http://www.petitiononline.com/nolimits/petition.html

And if you sign it, you also helped yourself, because it would make at least 1 million leeches become sharers.

Hey BlankStar,
I'm from Belgium too and I kind of understand what you're saying.
At the moment I'm with Skynet but I am planning to switch to Telenet.
Also getting the fastest one available :01:

I don't think the online petition will help in making telenet change their upload policy.(but I'll sign it anyway)
I think it would be better that you, your friends and other people that actually are a client of telenet should send individual emails to them,complaining/asking them about why they only allow a certain amount of your available bandwith for uploading(i'm curious what their response will be).
Or if they have a messageboard,go there and start discussing it.

They won't care for a petition signed by non-telenet cliënts, because they don't represent paying costumers.

Also,if you use your connection for down-/uploading during the night (10pm-10am I think) you can use double the amount of bandwith available to you.
Which means you can download 30gig and upload 3gig.
Not really a solution but it might help in less leeching from your side ;)

And if you really want to leech because of this, use newsgroups or mIRC to get your stuff.
That will also max out your download speed :01:
I think telenet newsservice is quite good compaired to Skynet's.
But not too sure about that.

Anyway,
Since I'm planning on moving to Telenet myself,I will also send them an email asking them why they restrict the upload to only 1,5gig per month.
And that because of this I might not sign up to their services anyway.
Not saying that they will do anything about it in the near future, but if a lot of people complain about this they might change something about it.

Hello!

Is there nothing else to choose from where you live for instance DSL connection??. I would much rather satisfy with a lower speed then capped downloads/uploads!. I simply cant live with caps  :helpsmili . I currently have a 2.5MBit/s connection both up and down and are happy with it as I can use it as much as I want mo restrictions on ports nor anything. But then I live in Sweden and we have the best access in Europe for very little money I only pay $60/month for my connection.

As you can see on my bandwidth usage the last few days I would not be a happy camper on the connection you have:

I really hate ISP's that block ports and caps the connections they should be shoot and killed:w00t: :D :

cant you just switch ISP or do all of the ISP in belgium have the limits?

Skynet and telenet are the two biggest dsl providers in belgium.

Skynet has a monthly limit of 10GB.
The Telenet 6.6 connection has a montlhy limit of 15GB.

There is one provider that does sound intresting...adsl2fit.
4Mbps down/512kbps up.
But they also have a monthly limit.(40GB though)
You can connect as much pcs as you want.
But you don't get a mailbox or webspace.

Anyway,if I remember correctly the montlhy limit is something new.
We didn't have it up until 2 years ago.

I have the same issue as you man, but I manage. I just leave my pc on for a while after I've finished downloading a torrent.
