Lately I have been downloading alot of .wmv files I cant play on either Winamp or Media Player Classic (or any other video player). When I use Windows Media Player it brings me to a site that says I need a video player compatable with "Windows Media Rights Manager V7."

Is there a codec for that or what do I need to play the files?

i'm sure the nice folks at altnet could tell you :P
EDIT: if you install WMP 7 or higher it will install the needed DRM crap on your PC

It'd be nice if the folks at Filesharing Talk could tell me. ;)

Edit: I dont wanna install Media Player. Not that Microsofts webpage is making that easy for me.

There some codec or player that can play the files without that overbloated, buggy piece of shit software? Second only to RealPlayer in trashyness.

Yeah that didn't work. I dont have "full" Media Player installed just the little compact one.

Time to install the full thing. :(

Just avoid windows media.

And I dont think its a codec issue really,
one cannnot find a codec that unlocks them.
(I could be wrong too)

But, maybe somebody has made a program to remove DRM out of files?
I dont really know how the thing works as avoid those files like a plague,
which it is...

Actually, this could be worth to investigate more,
im sure Arm is not the only one with this problem.

i mean there should be a way to use DRM with MPC without installing full blown WMP
the megacodec guys might know how.
it's not a codec issue.

You'll need WMP :(

Just stay away from the DRM stuff. That's always crap compared to the 'real' (non DRM) stuff.
