please can some one tell me how to make vb look in a databse for the user name and see if the password that they entered is the same and if it isnt then return a error message, if it is then display their name on a label (on a splash screen) (to show for 5 seconds) then show thier name in the title bar

You know my methods people - now start adding to the list and enjoy the hunt. The Mods allready know, unless he is behind a proxy server of course. I would like to add however that normal users cannot have a chance of finding out unless by simple deduction - so be fair and give more clues.

Well they spent a month and a half thinking of what to do with themselves, they joined 14th feb, and posted 28th march.
I reckon it must be a mod cause no one else could post in the lounge without registering.
