I think he just wants to keep the monitor cool when turned on for a long time. Is that even possible?

I think they are designed to work continuously and if they get quite warm that's normal. No need to add additional cooling. It's not like you can overclock your monitor.

Just drop it into a bathtub of cold water before she gets home. That'll cool it down fast.

Edit: To add... Just in case someone actually tries this. I was not serious. Do not do this!!!!

Why don't you get your own computer? Show your mother you can be trusted and responsible by doing as she asks. I'm sure you can get plenty of advice on this board to get something good yet affordable.

Get some cpu fans(you know the smallish black ones). you need as many as will fill the space on the back of your monitor(the bit with the vents) glue them together(making sure they all blow the correct way when wired up) connect them to a 12v dc power supply and place it on the back of your monitor with the air flowing upwards.

first of all... you know that cpu fans are reaching from 80mm to 120mm... they are so small they wont do anything... any second... the cpu has to be connected onto the motherboard and im pretty sure the wiring isnt long enough... second fault... i will need a ton of those little things for it to actually work well... :P..... and heat generates from three locations in a monitor....

Here is another suggestion. I got a used laptop for less than $100 at a discount computer show. Although it is a 486, Windows98 runs great on it. Internet connection with 56K, and even with DSL, is no different than my Pentium-4 at 2.0gHz.

You need to get yourself a secret cheap laptop!

Does this idea enlighten you?
