To be a great Rapper
do you have to have a shitty youth / upbringing and come from the Ghetto
surrounded by police brutality and injustice?

Its not required.

But it helps.

Raps about Ghetto/shootings/killings/ tends to be more dramatic than, say,
songs about "My Ferrari sucks".

I dunno really, hehe, I dont listen so much of either "genres".

But hows about coming from ghetto and swim in bling bling?

edit: but i'd rather listen to rap then rock or metal or w/e. i aint no skater, fuck that :)

So what do you listen to?

And FYI, skaters may listen to rock/metal, but if it's that commercial crap I'm assuming you're refering to they (and you by the sound of it) don't know what the fuck good "rock" is. ;)

Edit: Same thing with rap I'd assume, the MTV bunch is mostly the "sell outs".

Well according to TOTP website

"50 Cent turned hero at the weekend when he helped to stop a knife-wielding attacker at an awards ceremony.

Fiddy, wrapped in his regulation bullet proof vest and accompanied by 7,500 bodyguards leapt to the rescue at the Vibe magazine awards in Los Angeles when he grabbed a man who made a lunge at Dr Dre just as he was walking to the stage to collect his Lifetime Achievement gong.

One man, a member of Fiddy's G-Unit crew, was injured in the fracas as chairs were thrown and fisticuffs flew. He is now said to be in a stable condition in hospital."

He's probably some guy off his trolley or just trying to make a name for himself by attacking someone famous.
