Couldn't I just torture the cat a little to save the sight in one of the child's eyes?

Both eyes? Is the child a cyclops, at all.

Be like butter and clarify.

Or perhaps JP means sacrifice the opportunity to live the life of a cat, in which case I would save the small child's eyesight by foregoing a feline existence..

TheDave

can the cat and the kid just fight it out?

no discussion necessary, I would think a child is far more important than an animal, especially one where the population is stressed. how many cats are destroted daily in animal shelters because nobody wants them ?

interesting question, depends whose child and whose cat, but it'll probably be the child, me being racist and all

What age is the cat, also what type of cat - feral or domesticated. Would the cat sacrifice be pre-ordained or would I get to choose which cat gets killed. How would the cat die - should that be the choice - one would hope humanely but I would not want to make assumptions.

Why is the child blind. Was it a fault of his/her own, or maybe his/her parents. A birth defect maybe. You say that the child is small, is this related to his/her blindness, perhaps the child has other physical frailties too.

Lastly how in a rhodendendron bush of rods and cones would feline slaughter save a child's sight

Kill and stuff the cat, then you could give it to the child once they had got their sight...as a momento.... :whistling

Sacrifice a cat's life to save a small child's eyesight.

Discuss.

You've put your hand in cat shit hav'nt you

Nope.

There is no other option. It's the cat's life v the eyesight.

Then, the cat has to go.

Does this mean the child will only be able to go out at night.???

The cat is 1 year old, it is a domesticated family pet. It is a specific cat, with which you are familiar (There is a reasonably oblique reference there for those who wish to look). It would die painlessly at the hands of a competent vet.

The child is not blind, though if the cat does not die she will become so. There is no other option, or explanation that is simply how it is. Otherwise she is physically sound. She is currently 2 years old and in rude health.

I would have the cat sign an organ donor care, kill the cat and give the child an eye transplant from the cat.

Problem solved, Ta Da!

/me flies away.

Why not just give the cat to the RSPCA?

I got my cat from them.....most chilled out cat ever :)

Cheers. That does make things significantly different for me.

The little girl's eyesight must be saved :01:

If there is only 2 options, the cat has to die.

Not fun, nice or joy innit, but it has to go.
