I'm actually giggling at those who clicked this while pulling this face

No seriously, I hear soooooo many people including some of you guys moan on about how you're old and shit like that.

Having watched a couple of thought provoking tv progs I've come to the conclusion that I wish I was 5-15 years older, actually I've always felt like that, I've hated pretty much everything since 1990, all style, flamboyence and individualism imo is gone.

I hear people say, "You're ok you're young" etc, then a little while later they tell me about a Guns n Roses or Motorhead concert they went to, have you any idea what I would give to have been there?
Just 3 miles from my house some of the biggest bands ever have played, including Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Sex Pistols, Def Lepard, loads of them........where was I?...Being babysat by the 300y/o next door neighbour

So next time you wish yourself younger, just stop and think of what you did/had the chance to do.......then think , what have I had?.....Take That, Boyzone and the fucking poxy Spice crap.

So here's to being born 10 years to late for my perfect life.

What you mean "Who's been moaning?" :frusty:
Pretty much any woman over 30

Actually come to think of it, men don't seem to care about aging
Nor do I, the way I see it, if I was 37 instead of 27 I would have some better memories than I have :01:

You are quite right in that. Thatcherism, horrendous interest rates, the selling off of our assets for quick profit. Capitalism over caring.

Maggie Thatcher stole my milk. :(

Yeah...saw Iron Maiden supporting Judas Priest...Motorhead on the Ace of Spades tour, AC/DC (just after bon scott died :( ) Whitesnake, Rainbow, Scorpions, Hawkwind when they could still string a sentence together...

I went to the last Stonehenge festival (1984) the one before the battle of the beanfields.....

Went to Glastonbury when the bands were good....

More bike rally's and gigs than I can shake a stick at......ah those were the days....

I'll get me walking frame.....

Ah! nostalgia is not what it used to be!

I was never really into the heavier end of the rock spectrum (although I did buy Hawkwind's 'Space Ritual' back in the 70s  )

I saw Pink Floyd and Rory Gallagher (who could play a note or two).

Actually, just thinking about it, it was remarkable how many concerts I had been to which had kind of drifted out of my consciousness - like Barcley James Harvest. :ermm:

Saw Dire Straits (a couple of times), Roxy Music, Big Country, UB40, Police, Sade, Nils Lofgren, Bowie - I know I was at a lot more but I'm tired now.

I'm amazed bands go to Wales to play.
It's crazy, theres nothing there but hills and bloody sheep.
Stll sour about getting lost there a few years ago.

I don't believe I have ever heard of that band.
I thought it was a broomstick Harry Potter uses.

I think there are two or three houses in the Cardiff Swansea area.

err... I thought that too but couldn't remember if it was Nimbus 2000 or 5000 :blushing:

Work sent me one of those outward bound things in Wales a few years ago - managed to get lost in the mist up some hill too - so much for the map reading skills class - couldn't see the bloody map!

Well, they must have been hiding behind the sheep then. :blushing: :w00t:

I went to visit a pal there, a while ago.
I got lost and just kept going up and down hills.
It was misty and spooky.

And the only people I saw, had four legs and loads of wool.
Damn inbreeding. :D

Likewise, I approach Linkys with caution in the Lounge - SGG was about ready to disembowel Bo at one point for his hilarious "log you you" wheeze.

Off the top of my head. Wishbone Ash, Dire Straits, The Who, Eric Clapton, Barclay James Harvest, Rush, Status Quo, Big Country. Some on a few occasions. These are the ones I can remember. It was a long time ago, apple and possibly other fruits / herbs may have been involved.

Too funny. I forgot all about Wishbone Ash..I actually had an album or two of theirs. This led me to remembering Gentle Giant. LOL

I saw YES a few times, Jethro Tull, Allman Brothers, Rolling Stones, Hot Tuna, The Dead, The Wailers, Burning Spear, Todd Rundgren's Utopia, etc..the bad old good old days.

@Manky.....Pffft, you don't wanna be going to Norwich, it's full of Norwichians
Where they playing? the UEA?

@lilmiss...Yeah well I guess 10 years would suite me, that would mean in 1987 I woulda been 20, perfect age to go see Guns :01:
And I seen videos of Velvet revolver, the guy cannot sing live :frusty:

I wanna be old :(

Maybe you should get a load of old videos ... roll several spliffs...reposition the tv facing outside and watch it wrapped in a blanket sitting on the foor outside.

Failing that, I recommend one of the multitude of tribute bands out there or just get into Busted...lol.

Although a few of the old bands are still kicking around the occasional festival ... like Hawkwind and Girlschool....

Motorhead played Nottingham recently and are still as good as ever apparently (a couple of mates went to see them)

A friend went to see them - he said they were actually quite good, although there are only one or two original members left.

Leaf and Stream from Argus - I liked that :) Side 2 to that album was very Tolkien.

No it wasn't. That's nonsense, shame on you.

Such things are perhaps subjective. But tracks like "The King will Come" and "Throw down the Sword" evoked certain images to me. :)

Edit: or was that side 1? I can't be arsed to go and get the vinyl out. - The cover had a certain mystical look to it also.

Biggles
11-22-2004, 12:40 AM
Maybe so, but any reference to Tolkien was at best personal.

Totally, they may have been contemplating drag car racing when the wrote the songs for all I know.

I will be more precise these songs create Tolkienesque images in my mind (such as it is) and my mind alone. :)

Time for bed methinks
