Windows XP Folder Views

I'm having a problem with my folder views.
I want to view a folder as thumbnails and folders inside that one as details, but whenever I change it, as soon as I leave that folder and come back to it, it will revert to having details in the one I want thumbnails and icons in the ones that I want details.

How do I get XP to remember the views?

I just did this successfully:

I changed 'Local disk (C: )' screen to thumbnails, clicked on 'My Shared Folder', changed that to list. Closed the window by hittin the 'X'. That worked for me. Are you doing anything different??

In folder options/ view , near the bottom do you have remember each folders view settings checked ?
