VIA Vs nForce

i've only had nForce chipsets and am thinking of going to VIA. getting a amd 64 chipset soon. is there a reason i shouldn't go VIA? how bout those 4in1 drivers? does VIA offer something that nvidia doesn't in the drivers? are the 4in1's good? are they bad? do certain games work better on nforce boards? etc, etc... can someone comment on this and help me deside? thx.

Man you got a tough choice. On most benchmarks I see, the Via scores a TAD higher then the nForce on some things, and vis versa.

Asus A8V KT800Pro (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-131-510&depa=0) looks like a good board.

Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra-939 (GIGABYTE "GA-K8NS Ultra-939) has the nForce 3 ULTRA, which I believe is the best nForce chipset.

Choosing between these 2, I would definitely go with the Asus board.

I have read that nVidia took away there great onboard sound with their newer chipsets, is that the nForce 4 coming out? And why would they do that, thats one of their great selling points?

DFI Lanparty (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-136-147&depa=0) . I have never worked with one of these, but they are supposed to have GREAT features and work well. They also look very good.

What socket will you be needing?
The DFI Lanparty is reputedly the best socket 754 and the MSI Neo Platinum seems to rule the socket 939s.

that Asus A8V KT800Pro is the exact board i was leaning on, but i don't know anything about the VIA chipset. i'm totally going for the 939! not sure if the 754 is dying or not, but i do know u can oc a 939 a lot better and it runs cooler for that great oc. my buddy's got that msi board and his nic has already died. i haven't heard to many good things about the msi so i won't be getting that. that gigabyte board does look nice, but those dimm slots are way to close. it doesn't state, but is that gigabyte board that nVidia 250gb board? i do like the asus and how the board looks, but just have no idea on that chipset. only complaint i have about my asus board now is the chipset. it's the soundstorm. u know... anyway, i thank u guys on ur input. anymore comments are appreciated!

VIA just came out with new chipset drivers. with these drivers they say,
"This driver will not update the AGP driver if the system is running WinXP SP2, in line with Microsoft's recommendations concerning AGP drivers".

what does that mean? problems?

pretty cool lookin' board. never heard of them, but i can say i don't like where the hd and fd ide goes on the mb. i guess i can say i don't like that it doesn't cum with that cpu mount either. how much do those cost? nice chipset fan though...

I agree that the floppy connector is in an awkward place.
