I'm trying to send my friend an .iso file but we can't get our ICQ clients to establish a connection, although both of our firewalls have rules in them to allow.

MSN Messenger is slow.

Does anyone know of another program we can use that will guarantee speeds?

you could just set up a tiny webserver like http://minishare.sf.net/

Aim works pretty good. If you both have a cable modem, you can get 100kb/s easy.

www.yousendit.com is great, just put in any email address and it gives you a download link once it's finished uploading. Only disadvantage is that obviously your friend can't download while you are uploading it. The file is stored on the server for about 7 days I think.

I'd use AIM. msn messenger is always slow as shit and when I start the transfer with AIM it's fast as lightning..well, not that fast, but fast for those who like things done quickly. :)
