Nullsoft Winamp is a fast, flexible, high-fidelity media player for Windows. Winamp supports playback of many audio (MP3, OGG, AAC, WAV, MOD, XM, S3M, IT, MIDI, etc) and video types (AVI,ASF,MPEG,NSV), custom appearances called skins (supporting both classic Winamp 1.x/2.x skins and Winamp 3 freeform skins), audio visualization and audio effect plug-ins (including two industry dominating visualization plug-ins), an advanced media library, Internet radio and TV support, CD ripping, and CD burning.

The Lite version Plays MP3s, AAC, WMA, and more; Compatible with Winamp 2 Plug-ins; and has Full Support for Classic Skins.

Latest Changes:

* Critical Security bug fixed in in_cdda.dll and .m3u handler in_mp3 & in_nsv should work on Win95 again
* Proxy settings work again
* Installer fixed so that read_file.dll is installed always with mod support
* Version number should be properly reported by IPC_GETVERSION for this build

Found this: http://www.sci.fi/~showdown/amp/good-6.htm

Or you could try looking at Winamp's site - loads of skins on there.

Yes. Why do you ask?

Yes. Why do you ask?
Because I find it surprising that there's a need to update a media playing app so often.
Surely once a month would be enough...

Maybe these were deemed to important to let pass for another 2 weeks? I'd rather have a version that is better functional than one that is not, no? ;)

There's too many users using Winamp to make it obsolete.

What I'm saying is they could have just released a patch, instead of going up to a new version.
That bug list is pretty short, after all.

That's true.

It just makes more sense to release a new version...
People new to Winamp (or that aren't using 5.06) don't want to have to download the the installer and then a patch. that's just annoying.

Annoying or not, Windows users are already quite used to downloading patches... ;)
