It's primarly for CAD(solidworks & autocad) and DCC(Maya) workstations. The majority of the price goes to testing the card with various professional software. If you go to the nvidia website they have a list of "Professional Certifications."

The Quadro 4 I have gets pretty decent fps on games but the cards really meant for opengl apps. The best gaming card would be the 6800 ultra since it canbe run in sli mode.

I want the one thats on the Mars Rover. That thing is almost garenteed not to break and with millions of dollars of funding to make sure it still works millions of miles into space... i think it'd be pretty reliable!

ffs, the company i was with, the fuckers rich as hell,
but they ran AutoCAD, MasterCAM, CADKey, etc...
all on outdated Win98/2K pcs with onboard video :lol:

i did see a PNY card for $400, 256 MB/1 GHz, looked nice, but...
i think i would take an ATi with about those specs and be happy

Wouldn't want a quadra. They don't game well it's just good for graphics design and cad. No dirext x 9.0c. :P
